Bret Michaels whacked by scenery

Poison rocker Bret Michaels was left slightly injured after he was whacked by a piece of scenery during the Tony Awards.

The musician - who stars in reality TV show Rock of Love - took to the stage with his band for the opening number of the theatre awards show.

They performed the Poison hit Nothin' But A Good Time with the cast of Broadway stage show Rock of Ages.

But as he walked off the stage, a giant sign bearing the legend 'Broadway' descended and hit his head, knocking him to the ground.

Tony Awards' spokeswoman Christina Stejskal said the rocker "missed his mark".

The 46-year-old is thought to have injured his nose - but not to have broken it.
