Daredevil Jesse James takes on the world's fastest superbike

Daredevil Jesse James got his new TV series off to a flying start by taking on the world's fastest and most dangerous superbike.

The stuntman husband of actress Sandra Bullock had just one week to learn how to handle the 200mph Nitro Bike in the opening episode of Jesse James Is A Dead Man.

He started his intensive prepartions for the rocket-fuelled 1,000-horsepower beast by going up in a F16 Jet Fighter to train to handle massive G-forces.

Then he was set on fire in a protective suit to prepare his body in case the rocket fuel bike went up in flames.

Jesse's first two attempts to reach the quarter-mile finish line ended in potentially fatal failure.

On the first go, he lost control and almost ploughed into a wall. And the second attempt saw him roll the throttle and cause the engine on the $100,000 bike to explode.

But it was third time lucky on a replacement bike as Jesse reached a top speed of 161mph to reach the line in just 7.6 seconds.

The Nitro Bike goes from 0 to 100mph in less than a second and usually takes months of training to ride.

Jesse, who will take on a new life-endangering challenge every week on the show, said: “Someone tells me something's crazy or it's hard, or it's impossible to jump on it and do it, that's the thing I'm going to do.”
