Hip-hop star T-Pain slapped with lawsuit after failing to perform Guyana concert amid death threats

Hip-hop star T-Pain has been slapped with a lawsuit after failing to perform a concert in South America amid alleged kidnap and death threats.

It's claimed the 23-year-old rapper had demanded a private jet and FBI protection after fears were raised over his safety in Guyana.

Grammy winner T-Pain - real name Faheem Najm - had been paid $75,000 (£50,000) in advance but ducked out of the February 23 gig he was headlining.

Georgetown-based concert organisers Hits and Jams Entertainment has now filed a lawsuit in Broward Circuit Court, Florida, seeking $5 million (£3.5 million) for breach of contract, according to the Miami Herald.

The firm is also suing T-Pain's Nappy Boy Touring company and his management company Chase Entertainment, based in Fort Lauderdale.

According to court documents, organisers had also bought more than a dozen airline tickets for T-Pain and his entourage, including seven in first class.

As part of the deal, T-Pain had requested a "four-star hotel or better" with Cartoon Network TV channel and 24-hour room service, a dressing room with a private bathroom and bottles of champagne and vodka.

But the agreement fell apart when T-Pain's people said kidnap and death threats had been made.

The threat was reportedly made because organisers had not paid their "street guys".
