Jay-Z stops Chris Brown performance, it is claimed

Rapper Jay-Z stepped in to stop Chris Brown performing at a music awards show, it has been claimed.


Organisers of the BET [Black Entertainment Television] Awards wanted the R'n'B singer to appear at Sunday night's show.


But Jay-Z - real name Shawn Carter - felt it was too soon after Brown pleaded guilty to assaulting ex-girlfriend Rihanna earlier this month.


And he threatened to snub the Los Angeles broadcast himself unless Brown was axed.


A source told a US newspaper: "Jay-Z wasn't having it.


"He threatened to pull out of the show if Chris was involved, so BET dropped Chris."


Meanwhile it was claimed that civil rights activist Rev Al Sharpton also pressured organisers to get rid of Brown alongside Jay-Z.


An insider revealed: "Al made such a fuss to the BET executives that they pulled Chris.


"Jay is a big name in the BET community, and he was very vocal about his displeasure with Chris attending the ceremony.


And Brown is said to be unhappy at the decision.


"He's furious," a pal said. "BET asked him to perform and waited until the last minute to tell him it was off. "He's pretty shocked and outraged right now."

    I think that was the right decision to make. Chris brown(stupid person) did not deserve to be at the BET Awards, and he should've got beaten up.

    i think that is so unfair! chris brown is young, just coming out of his teens and made a mistake that i don't think was all his fault! jay-z you are grown, act like it! if anything you should be taking him under your wing and showing him what a man is, instead of showing him what type of power you think you have. for those that argued about chris being at the awards, you shouldn't throw stones! you can't tell me you didn't make mistakes when you were his age! on top of all of that, he should have been a part of honoring michael like everyone else. you can tell by his performances that michael was an integral part of who he is as a performer. i am so appalled and sickened at your behavior because you men are so much older than him. you jump up and down and stomp your feet to try and stifle his career. why don't you move past this and let everyone else do the same? stop trying to continue making trouble for this young man and let him move on with his life! we do have something called the judicial system in this country. i don't recall seeing you sitting in the judge's seat or did i miss that court hearing!? chris you and your family pray for these people and people like them. with god all things are possible!

    jay-z is just mad because Chris Brown will be the new MJ. He is old and need to sit down. Chris Brwon can dance and sing. The other one is not even a good rapper....lol plus he tricked b into marrying him. Sit you old self down you and gray head al sharpton
