Jessica Simpson to return to reality TV

Jessica Simpson is to return to the world of reality TV, four years after the end of the MTV series that she made with ex-husband Nick Lachey.


The 28-year-old blonde is set to head a new VH1 show called The Price of Beauty, which will see the singer travelling the world to meet every-day women and local pop-culture icons.


Simpson, who was recently publicly ridiculed for putting on weight, says: "I have always believed that beauty comes from within and confidence will always make a woman beautiful, but I know how much pressure some women put on themselves to look perfect."


The Texan will focus on local fashions, diet fads and beauty regimes.


Executive produced by the singer and her father Joe Simpson, The Price of Beauty begins filming in mid-July.


Jeff Olde, executive vice-president of VH1 original programming and production, says: "Perhaps more than any other pop-culture figure on the radar today, Jessica Simpson has been the target of our obsession with beauty on both sides of the equation."
