Nicole Kidman to address Congress

Nicole Kidman will again take up the highly charged topic of world violence against women.

Kidman will travel to the Capitol to address Congress as a member of a delegation to the US House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee On International Organisations, Human Rights And Oversight.

Kidman is a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Development Fund For Women. "Violence against women is on the rise around the world. It is time to examine what the Congress, the Obama Administration and United Nations can do to stem this growing tide of violence," said Congressman Bill Delahunt.

Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky and Breakthrough human rights organisation executive director Mallika Dutt will join the A-list actress who has proved herself an articulate advocate for women.

Delahunt said violence against women affected economic stability and had many consequences for the international community.
