Reality star Tila Tequila denies drunken bust-up with beau

MTV reality star Tila Tequila has hit back at claims that she was drunk and defended her San Diego Chargers boyfriend Shawne Merriman, saying that he was simply “trying to protect her” during an early-morning row.


The Shot At Love starlet was taken to hospital early Sunday morning, after allegedly being attacked by San Diego Chargers star Merriman.


According to reports, the San Diego Sheriff's Department received a disturbance call from Tila 'Tequila' Nguyen at 3.35am Sunday morning.


She told officers that she had been choked and then restrained from leaving Merriman's home by the NFL linebacker.


Merriman released a statement saying: "At the time, I was concerned about her welfare given the intoxicated state she appeared to be in, and I encouraged her to stay until safe transportation could be provided.


“I look forward to clearing my name regarding these false accusations."


But now Tequila has hit out at the reports that she was drunk, writing on her Twitter page that she does not even drink alcohol.


She wrote: "I am only 93lbs and 4ft 11," she tweeted.


"I am allergic to alcohol. It has been publicly known for years. That is how I got the name Tila ‘Tequila' [because of] the irony. I can't drink."
