Rihanna has taken up the art of tattooing.


In black evening attire, the singer appeared to pore over a tattoo that was being drawn onto a customer in a tattoo parlour in the East Village.


The singer also took to applying tiny umbrellas with an "R" to at least four people.


Rihanna's own tattoos include stars that cascade down her neck and along her back, a musical note on her ankle and a Pisces sign behind her right ear. The singer also has a star inside her left ear, a Sanskrit prayer on the hip, the word "Shhh..." on her index finger and a handgun on her ribs.
