British want Abba to reform

Swedish band Abba are the group that the British public would most like to see get back together.


The quartet received 24 per cent of votes in the new poll, which was more votes than the second and third places - The Police and Pink Floyd - combined.


Abba also beat off competition from The Smiths, Oasis, The Jam, Dire Straits, The Clash and The Sex Pistols.


The study was carried out by the royalties organisation PRS for Music.

Stars such as Abba, LL Cool J and the Red Hot Chili Peppers are among those nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the US.


Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith said to the US magazine Billboard that it is a "real honour to be nominated".


The acts must have released a single or album 25 years before their nomination to be eligible to be added to the Hall of Fame.


Other stars that are competing to be added include: Kiss, Darlene Love, Jimmy Cliff, Donna Summer, Laura Nyro, The Chantels, The Stooges, Genesis and The Hollies.

Police hunt stolen ABBA jumpsuit

Police in Australia are hunting for the white jumpsuit worn by ABBA star Agnetha Faltskog on the cover of the band's album Arrival.


The jumpsuit is believed to have been stolen from a house in Melbourne and later sold at a garage sale. The property had been leased out by its owner with the jumpsuit stored in the shed.


A spokesman for Victoria Police said the tenants would now be interviewed.


The spokesman also said officers wanted to speak to anyone who attended a garage sale at the house in May.

ABBA lined up to fill Michael Jackson's London gig slots

Legendary band ABBA are reportedly being lined up to fill Michael Jackson's gig slots at London's O2 Arena.


Michael's tour promoters AEG Live had planned 50 dates at the arena for this summer for the star.


However, after his sudden death, they have been left with 50 free dates.


It is claimed they are trying to lure the band out of retirement to perform as they will be left with a multi-million-pound gap if they can't find a replacement act.


AEG chief David Campbell said: "There's a little foursome out in Sweden we keep talking to."


A source, talking about the offer, said: "There are millions on the table. But there are many hurdles to overcome."
