Akon's Sydney gig goes off incident free

A Sydney concert given by rapper Akon as part of his Konvict Tour went off without a hitch.

The rapper was at the centre of mayhem the night before in Melbourne when the crowd turned ugly and 18 people were injured. Akon jumped into the audience in a bid to calm the crowd after brawls between rival gangs broke out, his manager claimed.

But the Sydney concert was incident-free. Acer Arena bolstered security, with manager David Humphreys reassuring fans the venue had taken every precaution to prevent an incident.

US rapper Akon dove into a crowd of fans when violence erupted at a concert he was giving in the Australian city of Melbourne.

Police were called to the scene and 18 people, including two security guards, were injured.

But Akon claimed he jumped to stop brawls that broke out due to rival gangs both inside and outside the Melbourne Park venue. A group of up to 50 people rushed the entrance at about 9pm in a bid to gain entry to the concert.

Akon promoter Dwayne Cross said the rapper risked his own safety to calm the crowd. "One of the things people should take note of is an artist didn't have too much concern for his own safety to go down and try and make things bet .....

Rapper Akon has said he is "extremely proud" of Poker Face singer Lady GaGa, who is signed to his label.

GaGa, 23, has had huge hits with her first three singles Just Dance, Poker Face and Paparazzi and will be touring the US with singer Kanye West, 32, later this year.

The singer is signed to Akon's label Kon Live Distribution and he said: "Man, of GaGa I'm extremely proud. I saw this coming like I knew this was gonna happen. I always believed in this girl.

"I knew that one day if she just got that fair shot she would turn into something incredible. I just happy and sitting back like a proud big brother like: 'Go ahead, go get 'em girl.' It's an exciting feeling f .....

Rapper Akon has spoken of his dismay that a track he recorded with Michael Jackson before he died may never be revealed.

Akon, 32, admitted that he spent a lot of time working with Jacko, who died suddenly in LA in June, and they completed a track together.

The rapper believes that if the track was to be released, it would definitely be a hit.

He said: "Me and Mike spent a lot of time together, discussing concepts and playing around in the studio.

"We finished one track and it's amazing, but the MJ estate owns it now.

"You never know - it may come out in 10 years' time or it may come out this year. I hope so."

Reportedly, Akon is avoiding ex Sara Coleman to keep away from any child support payments or anything else that comes with, you know, fathering children.
The mama of his baby drama has apparently tried to catch him on numerous occasions to serve him with child support papers. But the singer is nowhere to be found!
Coleman�s lawyer even tried to catch him at MJ�s memorial service. But, apparently Akon was too smooth and was able to get away.
The uber famous musician can easily pull out some pocket change from his jean pocket and be able to pay of at least a good couple months.

Rapper Akon has confirmed reports that he has become a father for the sixth time.

The Beautiful star recently found out he is the father of the little boy who was born to Susan Owori, who he got pregnant while touring in Uganda.

He recently said: "I think kids are a blessing. [To set the record straight], I never ran away from my responsibilities and I never plan to. Everything I am doing now is for [my other five kids] anyway, so the more kids I have, the better. I just love them."

Talking about his new baby son, he said: "It's a boy and he's handsome as hell."

The mother of a child of Akon, Sara Coleman, has allegedly been having trouble finding him to serve him with papers.

An attorney for Coleman, Patrick Baghdaserians, said in a statement: "My client does not wish to comment on the paternity matter. Ms. Coleman wants to ensure privacy and an amicable resolution. My client's goal is to resolve this matter forthwith without media intervention."

A representative for Akon, meanwhile, said: "Akon has taken responsibility and has been extremely cooperative and proactive in handling this private matter. Paternity was only established just over 30 days ago.

Akon fought back tears as he listened to a song that he had recorded with Michael Jackson before the music legend's sudden death.

The R&B star shared the track, Hold My Hand, with viewers of The Today Show, on US TV this morning.

Struggling to speak, a visibly upset Akon said, "He [Michael] always wanted just to bring people together.

"That's how the concept [for the song] came about, about holding hands, [making] that connection as one.”

Asked if he could sum up Jacko's essence in one word, he replied: "Unreplaceable [sic]."

Akon has revealed he has been asked to co-ordinate the World Cup anthem for the upcoming competition.

The 19th FIFA World Cup will take place between June and July 2010 in South Africa and the Senegalese singer has admitted he has been asked to help with the anthem.

He said: "I've been hired as musical director for the World Cup.

"I will be overseeing the World Cup anthem and music at the ceremonies and I'm off to South Africa this week for meetings."

He added to British newspaper the Daily Mirror: "I love football so it's a great honour. Chelsea is my team in the UK, but I'll support South Africa in the Cup."
