Nirvana : All Apologies Lyrics

Songwriters: Cobain, Kurt;

What else should I be? All apologies
What else could I say? Everyone is gay
What else could I write? I don't have the right
What else should I be? All apologies

In the sun, in the sun I feel as one
In the sun, in the sun
Married, buried

I wish I was like you easily amused
Find my nest of salt, everything is my fault
I'll take all the blame, aqua seafoam shame
Sunburn, freezerburn, choking on the ashes of her enemy

In the sun, in the sun I feel as one
In the sun, in the sun
Married, married
Married, buried
Yeah yeah yeah yeah

All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are
...

The line "aqua seafoam shame" is totally nonsensical. It can't even be construed as a poetic ~stream of consciousness~ effort (or aspect) because it bears absolutely no relevance or relation to the rest of the lyrics. (For example: *Loser* by Beck is unadulterated ~stream of consciousness~ prose. It maintains its consistency throughout.)

*All Apologies* is brilliant in its simplicity, symmetry and brevity. Its form is what I consider to be the heart, the crux of lyrical mastery, (in the same vein as poetry's Japanese haiku.)

Although I agree that "aqua seafoam shame" was erroneously transcribed, I believe that "opposite from shame" is also inaccurate. It's my opinion that what Cobain is saying is:

    "I'll take all the blame,
    I'll concede from shame."

While it's not evident that Cobain made any attempts to correct this mistake, I ****ume that his reason for not doing so was simply because, well, it ~amused~ him! And, if that's the case, then perhaps he was "easily amused" after all!

    you're a dumb****.

what do you mean he whines too much? everyone whines, he's just the one of the few smart enough to put them into lyrics.

these lyrics are wrong in parts:

"Opposite from shame", not Aqua Seafoam shame"

    Also it's

"All alone is what we are", not "All in all is what we are"
