All Apologies Lyrics

Nirvana

What else should I be? All apologies What else could I say? Everyone is gay What else could I write? I don't have the right What else should I be? All apologies
In the sun, in the sun I feel as one In the sun, in the sun Married, buried
I wish I was like you easily amused Find my nest of salt, everything is my fault I'll take all the blame, ill concede from shame [ From: http://www.metrolyrics.com/all-apologies-lyrics-nirvana.html ] Sunburn, freezerburn, choking on the ashes of her enemy
In the sun, in the sun I feel as one In the sun, in the sun Married, married Married, buried Yeah yeah yeah yeah
All we know is all we are All we know is all we are All we know is all we are ...

Tell Us What These Lyrics Mean To You...

aqua seafoam, beautiful as lyrics in this song just like it is on an ocean wave.

One of Nirvana's most brilliant songs-- about the controversial lyrics.. He could have originally written it as "I'll perceive from" (which doesn't make sense either) or "opposite from" but as he practiced singing thought it sounded like "aqua seafoam" and that is what was recorded. Wouldn't be the first time that's happened.

lol. im almost sure that its "ill perceive from shame". that makes total sense. listen to it closely and im sure it will click for you the way that it clicked for me. then i listened to it again and again, not that i dont already and yupp. im sure its that

The line "aqua seafoam shame" is totally nonsensical. It can't even be construed as a poetic ~stream of consciousness~ effort (or aspect) because it bears absolutely no relevance or relation to the rest of the lyrics. (For example: *Loser* by Beck is unadulterated ~stream of consciousness~ prose. It maintains its consistency throughout.) *All Apologies* is brilliant in its simplicity, symmetry and brevity. Its form is what I consider to be the heart, the crux of lyrical mastery, (in the same vein as poetry's Japanese haiku.) Although I agree that "aqua seafoam shame" was erroneously transcribed, I believe that "opposite from shame" is also inaccurate. It's my opinion that what Cobain is saying is: "I'll take all the blame, I'll concede from shame." While it's not evident that Cobain made any attempts to correct this mistake, I ****ume that his reason for not doing so was simply because, well, it ~amused~ him! And, if that's the case, then perhaps he was "easily amused" after all!
