Former Beatles legend Ringo Starr has made a new song slating his home town of Liverpool.


The 69-year-old previously upset fellow Liverpudlians when he said he missed 'nothing' about his birthplace, but he has now written an autobiographical account of his childhood on new album Y Not.


He said: "People believe I was born, was a Beatle and lived in a big house. And where I come from was a very dark, damp, violent neighbourhood."


The singer revealed that he will be making more comments about his birthplace with every new album that he releases.

Digital music company sued for selling Beatles music online

A website accused of selling music by The Beatles without permission was placed under a temporary restraining order on Friday.


BlueBeat.com were issued an order by U.S. District Judge John F. Walter that has stopped them from offering digital Beatles music.


Beatles' record label EMI sued the Santa Cruz based company on Tuesday for alleged copyright infringement.


BlueBeat tried to sell the entire Fab Four catalogue for 25 cents per song last week, according to court papers filed in U.S. District Court in downtown Los Angeles.


Digital music retailers like Apple's iTunes and Google's OneBox don't sell Beatles songs because of a dispute between the band member .....

Beatles' early hit She Loves You their best-ever selling single in UK

One of the Beatles' earliest hits has been revealed as the group's biggest-ever selling song.


She Loves You was released in 1963 and became the band's second number one hit.


But now in a new chart commissioned by BBC Radio 2, it has been shown that the song was, in fact, the band's best-ever selling hit in the UK.


The Official Chart Company - which compiles the weekly top 40 - trawled its records to pull together an all-time best-seller list of the band's singles, including the many re-releases over the years.


The list is dominated by tracks up to and including 1965 including I Want To Hold Your Hand, which came in at number two.

Sherlock Holmes star Jude Law has reportedly been linked to the role of The Beatles' manager Brian Epstein in a new movie.


Jude, 34, has been linked to the role of Epstein, who died of a drug overdose in 1967. It has recently been confirmed that the movie, which will be called A Life In The Day, has producer David Permut's backing.


The film will reportedly begin filming next year.


A source said: "This is a role Jude has long coveted. Hopefully this will finally be his long overdue chance to play the role."


Jude will be seen in Guy Ritchie's upcoming movie Sherlock Holmes later this year opposite Robert Downey Jr and Jude will be playing Holmes' assistant Dr .....

Beatles fans flock to cross Abbey Road - 40 years on

Beatles fans have flocked to the crossing memorialised on the cover of the Abbey Road album 40 years ago.


Hundreds of fans sang Beatles songs, swarming upon the zebra crossing at St John's Wood in north-western London.


Forty years ago, on August 8, 1969, the band walked across the street for the album cover photo that is now an icon. Scottish photographer Iain Macmillan took the photos in just 10 minutes while perched on a stepladder in the middle of the road. He took just six frames of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.

The Beatles are coming out with digitally remastered versions of all their albums. The albums will include the same design and tracks, but will also come with rare photos and never before seen notes by the group. Apparently this has been in the works for almost four years now, to protect “”the authenticity and integrity of the original analogue recordings” according to the press release. This is definitely a day to look forward to; The Beatles Rockband edition is also set to be released that same day. Get ready Beatle fans!

George Harrison receives a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Beatles legend George Harrison has received the 2,382nd star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.


The guitarist's widow Olivia, pictured, and his son, Dhani, accepted the star during the late-morning ceremony in Los Angeles, which was attended by about 1,000 people.


His star was laid in front of the famous Capitol Records Building, on the same day the label announced plans for a new Harrison music release.


Harrison, the most self-effacing member of rock 'n' roll's most celebrated band, was born in Liverpool, England, on February 25, 1943, the son of a bus driver.


He attended the Liverpool Institute for Boys, where he was a classmate of Paul McCartney.

The Beatles are set to re-release 12 of their hit albums in digitally remastered stereo versions.


It is reported that The Beatles are teaming up with Apple Corps and EMI Music to re-release the band's studio albums in the updated format.


The album collection will be released on September 9, which is also the same date their first video game, The Beatles: Rock Band, will go on sale.


Beatles expert Kevin Howlett said: "You really can tell the difference."


He added to British newspaper The Guardian: "It's an extraordinary thing to sit there and hear LPs that you know so well and hear little nuances that you hadn't noticed before."

Former Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr have reunited on stage to raise more than $3 million for charity.


Starr joined McCartney for three songs at the Paul McCartney and Friends: Change Begins Within benefit concert at the Radio City Music Hall in New York.


"Ladies and gentlemen, Billy Shears ..." said McCartney, introducing Starr for the song With a Little Help From My Friends, during which Starr sings as a character of that name.


McCartney then sang lead and Starr played drums on the show's two encores, Cosmically Conscious and I Saw Her Standing There, which also featured backing vocals and percussion from Eddie Vedder, Donovan, Moby, Sheryl Crow and Bett .....
