Ok so all the people that think this is a beautiful song is very much mistaking it. This song was written in pitty towards a young womans mother. She saw the emotional pain her mom was having and tried to care but didn't. Her mom cared about nothing and helped nothing but herself. She tried to chande the pain for so long but it never helped. She eventually gave up and stopped trying. The line " I watched you die" was rhetorical. It did not mean the actual physical pain of death, it only ment emotional pain and suffering. I admit i truely love this song, but just sit sometime and think of what it is really about.
this song is good
& I loved it
but the word "I watched you die" was unnessary
but noone had die girl!!!
few unnessary words have all the power to made the beautiful song to nonsense!!!
so you truly need to takecare of
every word you're sayin
I don't think the line I watched you die was literal as in bury you in the ground dead. I believe that line was referring to a emotional death a loss of self if you will. And I think that the entire meaning of the song could be taken in several ways as shown in the two videos her solo one and this duet. However even those are up for interpretation art is a very personal thing that can mean on thing to one person and something completely different to the person standing next to them. And music is very much art and very much up to the listener to decide what it means to them personally not what everyone else thinks.

Its a good song but idk what it's about bc she is very pretty and a good singer but who died in the song in the part that says "I watched you die," ?????
as well as anyone else that wrote things that made no sense....
She is singing AS SOMEONE who is saying this to their her mother. Watching (her) mother go thru abusive relationships whether it be verbal or physical. She was "watching her die" EMOTIONALLY.
Also, yes, people DO have the right to express themselves but you don't use your kids as a therapist because it makes them unable to do anything normal or healthy with their own lives later. You don't need to watch the video to get that either. I have never seen it once. It's called reading the lyrics and using your head.
Super good song though, very powerful. If she hasn't actually felt those things towards her own parent she has done a very good job of conveying the pain through words AND tone.

hi!! i don't agree with ya u shud give any 1 a chance 2 express them selves maybe its da only way 2 express her feelings also she is small does not mean that er r gonna 2 ignore her.
I like the simple way that the message in this song is conveyed. ya it's sad that anyone should have to go threw that kind of pain but it's comforting that at least we can learn how to avoid getting ourselves into the same situation again
Reba might have helped make this song a bigger hit, but Kelly made this song and the fact that she wrote it at the age 16 says alot. Obviously Reba recognized that this song is special.
only 4 words, " G O O D"
I love this kind of songs because it affects me emotional, and i like her voice...
