God loves a lullaby
In a mother's tears in the dead of night
Better than a Hallelujah sometimes
God loves the drunkard's cry
The soldier's plea not to let him die
Better than a Hallelujah sometimes
We pour out our miseries
God just hears a melody
Beautiful, the mess we are
The honest cries of breaking hearts
Are better than a Hallelujah
The woman holding on for life
The dying man giving up the fight
Are better than a Hallelujah sometimes
The tears of shame for what's been done
The silence when the words won't come
Are better than a Hallelujah sometimes
We pour out our miseries
God just hears a melody
Beautiful, the mess we are
The honest cries of breaking hearts
Are better than a Hallelujah
Better than a church bell ringing
Better than a choir singing out, singing out
We pour out our miseries
God just hears a melody
Beautiful, the mess we are
The honest cries of breaking hearts
Are better than a Hallelujah
We pour out our miseries
God just hears a melody
Beautiful, the mess we are
The honest cries of breaking hearts
Are better than a Hallelujah
(Better than a Hallelujah sometimes)
Better than a Hallelujah
(Better than a Hallelujah sometimes)

Does anybody even care that this song is a theological aberration? Yes, it is a touchy-feely tune but it is pablum for the Scripturally illiterate. This song is not Scriptural. Pure and simple. The word "Hallelujah" is the highest form of worship in the entirety of God's creation. The elders surrounding the throne of God in heaven fall on their faces and cast their crowns at the Lamb's feet in utter awe and reverence when the word is spoken. The entirety of God's creation is moved to worship God when that word is spoken! Yet this woman dares to suggest that she's come up with something better? Can anyone improve on the Divine imperative to Worship the Creator? I think not! What really hurts is to see how easily this gullible generation swallows anything that is packaged as "Christian" these days. Is it true? Who cares? It sounds nice so, it must be good! Right?
