When Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler both left American Idol, it was announced that Mariah Carey would be the latest judge on the long-running talent show. Now, it looks like the other missing judge spot has been filled by miss Nicki Minaj herself! Whether the rumor is true or not, we’re taking cues from our past post on MC’s new AI judge spot and using Nicki’s songs as lyrical advice to her future contestants:
? Be like the guy she sings about in “Super Bass“
“I mean, you’re so shy and I’m loving your tie / You’re like slicker than the guy with the thing on his eye, oh”
Don’t be overly confident when you’re auditioning in front of Nicki: be true to yourself and stay humble and a little bit shy! Also, if you dress well for her, even if you have to borrow your dad’s tie, then she’ll be impressed.
? Don’t be afraid to spend money on Nicki (“Starships“)
Now everybody let me hear you say ray ray ray / Now spend all your money cause today’s pay day / And if you’re a G, you a G, G, G / My name is Onika, you can call me Nicki
Maybe if you’re competing for Nicki’s vote to Hollywood, you can always “accidentally” spill all of your dolla dolla bills out of your pocket and say it was change from your wild night before. Oh, and make sure you call her Nicki and not her real name, Onika.
? Remember, this is your “Moment 4 Life“
“I wish that I could have this moment 4 life / 4 life, 4 life / ‘Cause in this moment, I just feel so alive / Alive, alive”
Auditioning on American Idol is one heck of a big moment, not to mention in front of Nicki Minaj AND Mariah Carey! Remember that you may never get the chance again, and let Nicki’s lyrics inspire you to live in the moment.
Are you excited to watch American Idol with Mariah (and possibly Nicki!) judging the show? What other lyrical advice from the rapper can you share with us?
