Bow Wow Biography

Bow Wow is a US based rapper, producer, as well as an actor, born in the 9th of March 1987 with the real name: Shad Gregory Moss. At just thirteen years of age, he launched his debut album under the stage name of Lil’ Bow Wow and was entitled “Beware of Dog”. In 2003, he released his album “Unleashed” and used the name Bow Wow, and dropped the Lil’. Bow Wow released three more albums: 2005’s Wanted, 2006’s The Price of Fame, and just recently (2009), the album New Jack City II. Bow Wow also had a collaboration album with Omarion called “Face Off” which was released in 2007.

Bow Wow was born to parents Alfonso Moss and Teresa Caldwell in Ohio. As early as the age of three, he took interest in music. He started rapping after three years, using the name “Kid Gangsta”. The following year (1993), he participated in an LA concert and was discovered by Snoop Dogg who gave him the stage name Bow Wow. He was eventually signed to Death Row Records and made appearances as Lil’ Bow Wow on Snoop Dog’s “Doggystyle” as well as Snoop’s MTV of the track “Gin and Juice”. In 1998, Bow Wow met Jermaine Dupri who was a big help in forming Bow Wow’s musical career.

As Lil' Bow Wow, he debuted in 2000 with the album “Beware of Dog”. Its lead single entitled “Bounce with Me” which also featured Xscape, was included in the movie Big Momma’s House. “Bounce with Me” became a chart-topper on Billboard’s Hot Rap Tracks chart. Another Lil’ Bow Wow song:”The Stick Up” was featured in the film Wild Wild West together with Dupri, is mentor. In 2002, Lil’ Bow Wow introduced his sophomore album “Doggy Bag”, comprised of singles “Thank You” and “Take Ya Home”. The album turned platinum.
In April of the same year, he decided to drop the Lil’ and just utilize the stage name Bow Wow since he felt that he was becoming more mature. The first album launched under his moniker Bow Wow was “Unleashed”, made available in 2003. The album’s lead single was "Let's Get Down", which reached number 6 on Billboard’s Hot Rap Track chart. “Unleashed” also featured a number of artists like Mario, Amerie, Birdman, etc.

In 2006, Bow Wow launched his third album called “The Price of Fame” (certified Gold) with its first single which featured Chris Brown: "Shortie Like Mine", becoming part of Billboard’s Hot 100, to be specific, holding the 9th spot. The next track:"Outta My System" was about Bow Wow’s ended relationship with Ciara, whom he dated for several years. In 2007, Omarion’s and Bow Wow’s collaborative album was launched containing the singles “Hey Baby (Jump Off) and “Girlfriend”. In October of last year ’08, Bow Wow headed the “Walk Across America” event for the presidential election. Just last month (March 2009), Bow Wow released “New Jack City II” which focuses on how cocaine influences people.
