Cher's sex-change daughter tells of transformation

Cher's sex-change daughter has told how he is finally living the life he always wanted after undergoing surgery to become a man.

Chasity 'Chaz' Bono, who is eight months into the gender realignment treatment, said he has always felt like "one of the boys".

He told US television: "I feel so much more comfortable than I've ever been. I've felt male as far back as I can remember."

The 40-year-old, born Chastity Bono to singer and actress Cher and the late Sonny Bono, said the process of transitioning from female to male will take about four to five years.

Cher's 40-year-old son has said that he has recently started to shave for the first time.

Chaz Bono, who was formerly known as Chastity, started the process of a sex change in March this year.

He told Entertainment Tonight: "I shave about once a week now. It kind of started to come in just like peach fuzz. I always wanted to shave. It is a very natural process. For my birthday I got a lot of shaving stuff."

Chaz has now had his breasts removed and has started a permanent dose of hormones.

The daughter of Cher and the late Sonny Bono says she was only able to find herself when she hit the magic 4-0.

That's when Chastity started a sex alteration process to become Chaz.

Bono, who has Cher's support, said: "I was turning 40 and I thought it's now or never. I want to still feel vibrant and be able to enjoy my life in a male body and not wait until I am an old man."

He said: "It's a long process going back almost a decade. I got clean and sober in 2004 and I couldn't have done this before that."

US singer Cher has revealed her jealousy at men and said they "got away without" the body issues that women suffer.

The 63-year-old admitted that she has had to watch what she eats in recent years as her metabolism has changed. Cher also said that men seem not to suffer from the same insecurities about their appearance like women do.

She said: "I was underweight all my life. So thin, no matter what I did. I was one of those active kids. Then, a few years ago, for the first time ever, I suddenly had to watch what I ate.

British actor Bob Hoskins has said he never realised he was so short until he had to work with singer Cher - and had to stand on a box to kiss his co-star.

Bob, 66, will soon be seen on UK TV screens in the new series of drama The Street.

He admitted that he while was never bullied as a child, he did get picked on but it wasn't his height that was the issue.

He said: "I had my nose broken as a kid because I was a soppy sod - too much 'mouth' but nothing to back it up."

But he admitted his attitude wasn't to make up for the fact he was only 5ft 6ins tall.

Cher is to play a giraffe to Sylvester Stallone's lion in a live-action comedy called The Zookeeper.

The singer and action hero will provide the voices to the animals alongside funny men Adam Sandler and Kevin James and actress Rosario Dawson.

Sandler, 42, will lend his voice to a capuchin monkey.

The film centres on zoo animals trying to teach their keeper about dating and mating methods as he tries to win back the woman of his dreams.

Shooting starts in late summer. Filmmakers hope for an October 2010 release.

Singer Cher is set to join Christina Aguilera in a musical called Burlesque, according to reports.

Christina, 28, had already been revealed as one of the stars of the show and she will play a small-town girl who finds success in a burlesque club on Sunset Boulevard.

Cher, 63, will play the role of Tess, who is a former dancer who runs the club and gives Christina's character the chance to shine.

It will be Cher's first film role in ten years and she will also be singing on the new film.

Production on the film, produced by Donald De Line, will begin in November.

Cher backs daughter Chastity's sex-change wish

Loyal mum Cher has promised to support daughter Chastity Bono's decision to become a man - even though she admits she can't understand it.

The veteran star spoke out for the first time about Chastity's planned sex-change to become Chaz, and said that she respects her daughter's “courage”.

She said: “Chaz is embarking on a difficult journey, but one that I will support.

Cher's daughter is changing gender - from female to male.

Chastity Bono, the offspring of the singer and late husband Sonny Bono, came out as a lesbian almost two decades ago.

Now the 40-year-old - known to family and friends as Chaz - is to make the transition from woman to man, undergoing gender reassignment surgery, her publicist confirmed.

"He is proud of his decision and grateful for the support and respect that has already been shown by loved ones," said representative Howard Bragman.

"It is Chaz's hope that his choice to transition will open the hearts and minds of the public regarding this issue, just as his coming out did nearly 20 years ago."

Music legend Cher has filed a lawsuit against Universal Music Group (UMG), claiming that the record label has shortchanged her and the heirs of her late ex-husband Sonny Bono - to the tune of $5m.

The lawsuit, which was filed on Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court, claims an audit of UMG's accounting showed that UMG execs “engaged in wrongful tactics” designed to hide revenue from two hit compilation albums.

Cher claims that the deals entitled her to receive up to 50 per cent of the net royalties received by UMG.

The complaint also alleges that UMG later made a deal with Warner Music UK to distribute her 1999 compilation album, Cher - The Greatest H .....
