Christina Aguilera Biography

Christina María Aguilera, simply called by her fans as “Christina Aguilera”, was born in December 18, 1980 in New York. She is both a songwriter and singer of R&B and Pop music. Her first appearance on TV was in 1990’s Star Search program wherein she was one of the contestants and got second place at the end of the competition. From 1993 up to 1994, Christina also participated in The New Mickey Mouse Club of the Disney Channel. After successfully recording one of Mulan’s soundtracks “Reflection”, Aguilera got a deal with RCA Records and started becoming a popular artist after the release of her self titled debut album “Christina Aguilera” in 1999.

Christina Aguilera is the child of Fausto Wagner Xavier Aguilera, a U.S. Army Sergeant during that time and Shelly Loraine Fidler, a Spanish teacher. When Christina turned seven, her parents divorced, thus, she, her sister, and her mother, had to live with their grandmother in Pennsylvania. Aguilera does not have a close relationship with her father because of his abusive nature, and even spoke of her difficulties during her childhood in the songs she wrote e.g. “Oh Mother”, “I’m OK”, etc.
Christina’s debut album was a commercial success, especially because three of its singles turned number one on Billboard’s Hot 100. In 2001, Aguilera introduced a Latin pop album entitled: ”Mi Reflejo” which also helped make Christina Aguilera an international star. In 2002, her sophomore English album “Stripped” was released, together with the single "Beautiful" which was also successful. Her third album: “Back to Basics” was launched in 2006, and is a combination of the blues, jazz, and soul music, but was not as successful as her debut album. Christina is currently working on her fourth album, which is expected to be made available in the summer (2009).

Christina Aguilera is currently married to Jordan Bratman. The couple will be celebrating their 4th wedding anniversary this coming November (2009). Christina and her husband are currently blessed with their first son Max Liron Bratman, whom Christina gave birth to in January of last year (2008). Max Liron’s name means “My Greatest Song” when translated.

Christina’s most controversial life experiences include: posing in the nude for GQ magazine in 2006, with the shoot inspired by Marilyn Monroe’s nude pictures; Christina’s disappointment towards Mariah Carey, whom she states, have never been nice to her, even saying bad things about her when Mariah got drunk at a party.
