Ciara Biography

Ciara, pronounced as “Sierra”, was born as Ciara Harris, in Austin, Texas, with the birth date: October 25, 1985. Ciara is an R&B artist, best known for her hit song: “Goodies”. She also featured Missy Elliott in one of her songs: “1, 2 Step” and had her debut in 2004. The hit song “Oh”, Ciara did with Ludacris, which also was included in the U.S. Top 5 in the year 2005.
Ciara is the daughter of “military parents”, with her dad working in the army and her mother in the air force. The family moved around a lot, making Ciara experience living in New York, Germany, etc., then settled in Georgia at the time Ciara was eight years of age. Ciara is characterized with a slender and tall frame, which was why at first she wanted to become a model.
During her years in North Clayton High School, Ciara was a track athlete. She then transferred to Riverdale High School and had the position of head cheerleader. Ciara attributes her self-confidence to her experience in the squad which was why nervousness is never present when she performs in front of large audiences. Ciara then realized her dream of becoming a singing sensation so she joined a girl group named: “Hearsay”, then, eventually she chose to be a solo performer.
Producers Lil John and Jazze Pha (considered as CIara’s music soulmate), as well as guest performers Ludacris and Missy Elliot, plus a songwriting team, worked on Ciara’s first album which gave her celebrity status overnight. This, was, of course, attributed to “Goodies” which was a dance hit that gained the number one spot in both the United States and the United Kingdom, and held that spot for a full seven weeks.

“Goodies” also gave Ciara the title of “crunk & B singer”, which was the song she co-wrote with Sean Garrett, Usher’s co-writer in his hit song entitled “Yeah!” Crunk & B, by the way, refers to music that combines R & B elements with something faster and harder termed as the “crunk”.
At the latter part of the year 2005, Ciara worked with Gwen Stefani on a tour. Afterwards, Ciara partnered with Chris Brown and Bow Wow in what we can call: “a package tour”, held in the first quarter of 2006. Before the coming of year 2007, Ciara released her second album called “The Evolution”. Ciara is influenced by the following artists: Aaliyah, Salt N-Pepa, TLC, Destiny’s Child, Janet Jackson, and SWV.
