Elton John has joked that he has size envy - joking: "Some other guy's is always bigger."


The Candle in the Wind star made the crack to a US gossip columnist as they compared the size of their jewellery at his annual AIDS Foundation fundraising bash in New York.


Reporter Cindy Adams said: "He was wearing a diamond and emerald brooch. Me, too.


"He said, 'Yours is bigger... and that's always been my problem. Some other guy's is always bigger.'


"Then he said, 'And you can quote me'."


Sir Elton, 62, also revealed that he hated the food at the posh hospital he was treated in when he came down with flu and E.coli earlier this month.

Singer Sir Elton John says he's back and 'bouncing around' after receiving treatment for flu and E.coli.


John, 62, was hospitalised after being stricken with the illness and was forced to cancel several UK and US dates.


He spoke out about his recovery at the Aids Foundation benefit in New York.


He said: "The worst thing about being in the hospital was that it's the first time I've been in bed for about nine days in the whole of my life."


He added: "The worst thing was having to cancel shows, I hate that. But I'm back on my feet and I'm bouncing around now."

Sir Elton John has said he regrets waiting until he was 23 to lose his virginity.


The 52-year-old performer, who is now married to partner David Furnish, admitted that he wished he had popped his cherry earlier.


He said: "I made the mistake of holding off until I was 23. I loved being with another man and felt relieved that I finally knew who I was. My advice is to never chase love. It will find you. Have fun, have lots of safe sex and enjoy your sexuality."

Sir Elton John's half-brother has criticised the star's plans to adopt and said he is too old.


Sir Elton, 62, recently expressed his desire to adopt a 15-month-old Ukrainian boy called Lev with partner David Furnish.


However, Elton's half-brother Geoff Dwight has said the singer's age could lead to the child getting bullied at school.


He added that the boy's alcoholic mum, who is also HIV positive, should be given the chance to clean up her act and take care of the boy.


Geoff said: "I hope she does [get the boy back]. I'm sure she hopes that one day she'll be able to deal with her kids."

Elton John could become the legal guardian of the Ukrainian child he wants to adopt, it has been claimed.


Sir Elton, 62, and partner David Furnish, 46, recently revealed that they would like to adopt a 14-month-old boy called Lev - however, he was deemed unsuitable to adopt because of his age and his sexuality.


But authorities have reportedly come up with a compromise that would allow him to bring the child up in the UK but Lev's mother would keep his parental rights.


The deal was revealed by Ukraine's Families Minister Yuri Pavlenko, who had earlier said he would not consider the adoption because of the performer's age and same-sex partnership.

John, 62, and partner David Furnish entered into a civil partnership in 2005. John recently revealed his intentions to adopt the 14-year-old boy named Lev while touring an orphanage.


It is claimed that Ukrainian laws are strict with adoption and ban same-sex couples from adopting as well as those who are over 45 years older than the child.

The 62-year-old performer recently announced his intention to adopt a 14-month-old boy called Lev with partner David Furnish.


However, an international children's charity, EveryChild, expressed its concern that his plan could result in more children being abandoned.

Elton John, 62, has revealed his hankering for fatherhood by saying he plans to adopt a Ukrainian boy named Lev.


John said his longtime partner David Furnish, 46, had always wanted to adopt. "I always said 'no' because I am 62 and I think because of the travelling I do and the life I have, maybe it wouldn't be fair for the child," John said.

The star, who was performing at at a private birthday party in Monaco, appeared to read the words of his hit Your Song from a screen hidden among flowers.


John's publicists have denied that he needed a prompter to help him remember the words.


They said it helped the singer keep to the running order of his hour-long medley of hits.
