Enrique Iglesias Biography

Enrique Mart�n Morales, known more as �Ricky Martin� (stage name) was born in 1971, in the 24th of December. He is an award-winning performer who hails from Puerto Rico. He used to be a member of the Menudo band, then started going solo in 1991. Ricky Martin has sold more than 50,000,000 albums in almost every part of the world.
Ricky Martin is the son of Enrique Martin Negroni, a psychologist, and Nereida Morales, an accountant. His parents, however, went their separate ways when Ricky reached the age of two. He grew up in a religious household and even served as an altar boy until he joined the group: �Menudo�.
When the group disbanded, he decided to go solo in 1991, and at the same time started acting. He starred in a soap entitled�Alcanzar Una Estrella II� in English, �Reach for a Star� where he played the role of �Pablo�, resulting to him being given, in 1993, the �Heraldo Award�. He also released his first self-titled album in Spanish, which included �Fuego Contra Fuego� Martin�s very first gold record. This led to Martin�s sold-out concerts in Mexico, Puerto Rico, the United States, etc.
In 1999, Martin decided to create his first English album (still self-titled). Some of the songs in it were created by Dianne Warren, Robi Draco Rosa, William Orbit, etc. Ricky�s English album also featured artists like Madonna and Meja. �Livin la Vida Loca�, Martin�s lead single was a smash hit in various countries including the U.K., the U.S., Italy, Russia, India, Japan, and many more. Another hit �She�s All I Ever Had� also became a success, holding the number 2 spot on Billboard�s Hot 100. Ricky Martin�s English debut album was even considered as one of 1999�s top-selling albums.
Ricky�s follow up album entitled �Sound Loaded� was released the year after, but was not as successful. The singles: �She Bangs� and �Nobody Wants to be Lonely�, however, became minor hits and were included in the Top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100. In 2001, Martin�s greatest hits album was launched: �The Best of Ricky Martin� which sold more than 1,000,000 copies.
In 2005, Ricky Martin became busy with his world tour which continued until 2006. In 2007, he once again embarked on an international tour called �Blanco y Negro� where he performed in venues such as the Jos� Miguel Agrelot Coliseum, the Madison Square Garden, etc. Just last August (2008), Martin shared the good news that he has fathered twin boys through gestational surrogacy. He named his twins Valentino and Matteo, and is very much excited about starting fatherhood that he will be out of the limelight for a while in order to care for his children.
