Eric Clapton recovering from gallstone surgery

Legendary guitarist Eric Clapton is recuperating from gallstone surgery, cancelling a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame concert in New York.


Clapton, 64, was making good progress and is staying with his family in the UK, his publicist said.


The musician was scheduled to join a two-night celebration to mark the hall's 25th anniversary. Jeff Beck will replace him for the final night on at Madison Square Garden alongside U2, Aretha Franklin and Metallica.
