Fall Out Boy Biography

Emo-pop aficionados will definitely know the group: Fall Out Boy, who became famous in the mid 2000s. The group is made up of four members namely: Patrick Stump on vocals and guitar, Andrew Hurley on drums, Pete Wents on bass and on lyrical content, and Joe Throman also on guitars. The members all came together in 2001 in the Wilmette community. The four had previous experience with other groups that played in the Chicago underground.

Fall Out Boy gave hits that were a mixture of punk and pop, and were drenched with emotions at the same time. In 2001, the band had a self-released demo. In 2002, in the month of May, Fall Out Boy launched a split LP under the label: Uprising. The LP also showcased the group called: “Project Rocket”, which was one of the bands Hurley also drummed for. Fall Out Boy remained with Uprising until their mini-LP entitled: “Fall Out Boy’s Evening Out with Your Girl” was released.
After the release of their LP, Fall Out Boy signed with a label in Florida called: “Fueled By Ramen”, with Vinnie Fiorello (drummer of Less Than Jake) as co-owner. Fall Out Boy was also given an “advance” by Island Records for them to come up with a “real” debut album. Island Records also was the financer for the group’s “Take This To Your Grave”, recorded at Butch Vig’s Smart Studios, with Sean O’Keefe’s aid and guidance. “Take This To Your Grave” was released in May 2003, giving way to many good reviews, which also led to the group’s various tours.

Fall Out Boy’s breakout album, however, was “From Under the Cork Tree”, launched in 2005, during spring. The album immediately found itself in Billboard’s Top Ten chart, with the singles: “Dance, Dance” and “Sugar, We’re Going Down” also included in the Top Ten. “From Under The Cork Tree” gave Fall Out Boy a lot of fans, with the album being a double platinum and even gaining a nomination from the Grammy Awards for the category of “Best New Artist”.
Fall Out Boy went on a lot of tours, both locally and internationally. There were also TRL visitations and TV gigs the band went to. In the first quarter of 2007, the group released their follow-up album entitled: “Infinity on High”, which was made together with Babyface and Neil Avron (producer). The album became #1 on the Billboard charts and turned platinum a month after its release.
