Dirty little secret
Dirty little lies
Say your prayers
And comb your hair
Save your soul tonight
Drift among the faithful
Bury your desires
Aborations fill your head
You need a place to hide
And I am
Do you remember me?
The kid I used to be
Do you remember me?
When your world comes
Crashing down I want to relive
(Good God he's looking down on me)
I'm not Jesus, Jesus wasn't there
You confess it all away but it's only shit to me
(Good god he's looking down on me)
I'm not Jesus I will not forgive
No I won't
No I won't
I thought you were a good man
I thought you talked to god
You hippocratic, messianic
Child abusing, turn satanic
Do you remember me?
Do you remember me?
The kid I used to be
Do you remember?

Do you remember?
When your whole world comes undone
Let me be the one to say
I'm not Jesus you can't run away
And the innocence you spoiled
Found a way to live
(Good God he's looking down on me)
I'm not Jesus I will not forgive
I will not forgive
I want whatever you wanted
I will not forgive
I won't be whatever you wanted
Do you remember me
The kid I used to be
Not the same as I used to be
Oh do you remember me?
Noo
When your world comes
Crashing down I want to be there
(Good God he's looking down on me)
I'm not Jesus, Jesus wasn't there
You confess it all away but its only shit to me
(Good God he's looking down on me)
I'm not Jesus I will not
I'm not Jesus I will not forgive
Ohh, I will not forgive yeah, yeah
No I will not forgive

Oh, by the way, have you ever taken a look art some of the other religions? Have you ever looked at the rules they had set in place? The people in power made rules that might be fun, rules that might benefit their power, and rules that they would be able to keep. How about God's rules? Are they fun? The bible doesn't have fun rules, it has good rules. The bible doesn't make sense if you look at it as if humans wrote it. Humans would not write rules that they couldn't keep. In every religion except for 1, you please God by earning it. In Christianity, we do not earn anything, we are given everything. 1John 1:8-10 "If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess ours ins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us." I am praying for all of you unbelieving, in the end, if you don't believe, you will regret it for eternity. I beg you, even implore you, accept the truth; before it is too late. The world is p****ing away, soon it will be gone, and what about us? Will any of you please accept this gift that God is offering you? Or will you all suffer eternal ****ation. I hope, even pray that it will be the former; and that one day I will see you on the other side.

i think its funny how people like "alchemy" claim that all christians shove our beliefs down his throat, when HE is tellin you to believe what he believes! i hate hypocrites! i believe in God, but if u dont, thats fine! its ur free choice! that doesnt make u a bad person! shoving your beliefs unto others does, and hypocrisy does! hear me "alchemy"? this song isnt even about believing! its about an abusive holy man who betrayed a boys trust and the boy grows up and confronts the issue saying that he wont forgive that holy man, cuz he doesnt have the ability to forgive such an act! "I'm not Jesus, I will not forgive". stop trying to defecate this song by trying to say that all christians force others to believe in God. thats stereotyping. a belief is not forced! if ur forced to believe in something, then do you REALLY believe? no! its just pointless to force belief! people, ur mind is urs. u can believe whatever u want! thats the amazing independence that our mind contains! no one should force any belief down ur throat! so "alchemy", stop trying to instigate.

Wow. So many people completely misunderstood this song, clearly desperate for a G-d hating companion. The only reference to G-d in this song, is the one implying that He is all forgiving, unlike the author of the song, who will never forgive the man who abused him. Though you may believe “G-d sux,” you should know that stance is not implied anywhere in this song. You may want to brush up on your reading comprehension. But to address your bold statement, G-d created man with free choice. We're not puppets on strings. If child abuse and other man inflicted pain makes belief in G-d difficult, it makes belief in man impossible.

agree with the first part, this is not a song about religion. It's about judgding and forgiving. (At least, in a broad sense). Second of all: If your God is all knowing, didn't he foresee (thus evade) the possibility of making such a version of man? Why not? Is he sadistic? Then again, who are you to say how God created man?

The song has absolutely nothing to do with god... it is about pedophiles who hide behind religion to access their victims. That religion, in the end, protects the pedophile just as effectively as the victim ~ not at ALL.

Honestly, it doesn't matter what each indevidual takes from the lyrics. The only person who can tell you what they are to mean is Corey himself. Jesus may have a different connotation with him than what is usually taken from both the Christian or Athiest point of veiw. With this song, just as any other, it is up to interpritation. It is supposed to deliever a message on the personal level eliciting an empiphany to one's own veiws and ideas. Either changing them, modifying them, or even backing them up. For example, one person her believes it is about how he isn't the higher power mentioned so he will never be able to uphold those characteristics. Then for me, it is about some form of life struggle or experience that is still haunting everyday thoughts and thought processes. And about how getting through that experience or struggle was done on ones own, with no help from any form of higher power, and that they are not that intidy so they can not react the same what and confession is not a proper compensation for the wrong that was done. But, those are my experiences, thoughts, and religious beliefs that lead me to percieve the song in this way. If you look at other songs that Apocalyptica has done with other artists they are the same way. "Life Burns," and "Hope vol. II" are two prime examples that are meant to make you question your beliefs, ideas, and even how you live your life.

awesome song... but it is...only a song a person wrote not God. Man. Not Jesus a sinner forgiven or not just a man and a feeling thats all!

I see a few people actually paid attention to the lyrics here. The reference to Jesus is in the meaning that Jesus is all forgiving, and the person was apparently abused, and cannot be forgiving. Meaning "I'm not Jesus" equates to Jesus forgives, and I cannot. So many people use any excuse to lash out against God. For those of you that say God and Jesus "sux" etc. pay attention. If you REALLY understand the lyrics, you will find the author feels quite the opposite about God. He feels he cannot even come close to the compassion of Jesus. None of us can. If you say Jesus "sux" then, wow, we must be the worst since we don't have a fraction of God's compassion. WE are the reason Jesus died. He did nothing wrong...literally nothing. How can you say he "sux". Think about this, if we were to present ourselves to God on our own merit...He requires perfection. If you could manage ONE DAY, without a bad thought, intention or act...let alone perfection, you still could not make up for all the wrong you've done. Yet, Those who accept Jesus will go to heaven based on HIS merit...a GIFT from God. If this is what you feel "sux"...I think you've set the bar a little to high in your standards.

The concept of GOD was created out of people's need to explain the world around them as well as their need to have some sort of control over the chaos and injustice in their lives. If you think there is an all-powerful being who MIGHT listen to you and improve a situation you have no control over, it is much more comforting and easier for your psyche to handle than accepting that you are powerless. Of course, there is also an aspect of religion that has served as social control, from which concepts such as heaven and hell were created but that is sort of a separate topic from the human need for creating a god.
