The father of Jamie Lynn-Spears baby daughter is facing emergency surgery following a bad car crash, according to US reports.

Casey Aldridge - dad to Jamie Lynn's eight-month-old daughter Maddie Briann - was reportedly in a smash while driving two friends home from a fishing trip near home in Mississippi on Saturday night.

According to one report, doctors fear the 19-year-old could have a blood clot and were yesterday planning emergency surgery.

Jamie Lynn, who is Britney Spears' younger sister and turned 18 this month, is said to have rushed to be by his side in hospital in Jackson, Mississippi.

Jamie Lynn Spears looked every inch the young mum as she took daughter Maddie to a Louisiana gas station.

Spears, 18, was dressed for the scorching summer heat in a bright pink t-shirt, skimpy cut-off denim shorts, flip-flops and white sunglasses.

The actress stopped off at the gas station to pick up supplies and carried in one-year-old Maddie, still wearing her pajamas, on her hip.

After the brief Sunday afternoon shopping trip, Spears got back in her blacked out 4x4 car and headed to mum Lynne's home in the town of Kentwood.

Jamie Lynn Spears has reportedly called off her engagement to her babydaddy Casey Aldridge.

The 18-year-old, who is the younger sister of Britney Spears, got engaged to Case when he proposed when she turned 17. The couple are parents to one-year-old daughter Maddie Briann.

A pal of the star said: "Casey proposed when Jamie turned 17. He gave her a gold band with numerous diamonds and one larger stone, bt she has given it back to him.

"It's been more than enough for her to adjust to new motherhood for now."

The Zoey 101 star caused controversy when she announced she was pregnant in December 2007 as she was just 16 years old at the time.

The boyfriend of Jamie Lynn Spears, Casey Aldridge, has been released from hospital less than a week after flipping over his pick-up truck.

Casey suffered a head injury that reportedly did not need any surgery in the crash, which occurred as he was driving home from a late-night stag party early last Sunday morning.

He is back home with Jamie Lynn and their 10-month old daughter Maddie after leaving a Mississippi hospital on Friday, a family friend told US magazine People.

The friend said: “He'll have to have some rest for the next few weeks.

“He's still got a headache, but everything looks good.”

Casey Aldridge, 19, is currently in stable condition at a medical center in Mississippi, say TMZ.

Spears' baby daddy was reportedly taken to the emergency room initially but then transferred to another wing of the hospital.

Details of what happened in the crash are unknown, so far.

Spears gave birth to her first child, a daughter, Maddie Briann Aldridge with fiancé Casey back in June 2008 aged just 16.

Jamie Lynn Spears and boyfriend Casey Aldridge have called off their wedding, according to US reports.

The young parents, who welcomed daughter Maddie Briann into the world in June last year, are said to be "still in love" but have decided not to walk down the aisle.

A source said: "The wedding's off. They are still in love, living together and very happy but they have no plans to get married. Jamie Lynn has everything she wants and feels no need for a ring and piece of paper."
