Janet Damita Jo Jackson was born on May 16th 1966 in Gary, Indian.She was raised in Encino LA California. Janet is the youngest child of the Jackson family of musicians. At 16 years Jackson signed a recording deal with A&M and released her debut self titled album. This album was criticized for its lack of vocal range, and that she was just another Jackson trying to become a recording artist. In 1991 she signed the first 2 record breaking multi-million dollar contracts with Virgin Records and was then established as one of the highest paid artists in the recording industry.
