Jessica Simpson Biography

Jessica Simpson is an American artist and actress born on July 10, 1980, and started becoming famous in the latter part of the 90s. Simpson has a lot of achievements, including several Billboard hits (Top 40) as well as two multi-platinum and three gold albums.
Simpson is a Texas girl, one of the daughters of Joe Truett Simpson and Tina Simpson. Jessica’s sister Ashlee is also a singer and actress, focused on the pop rock genre. Jessica loved singing even during her childhood years. She used to sing for her local church. In high school, Simpson signed a deal with Proclaim Records and finished recording an album made up of gospel tracks, but the label went bankrupt, and so, Jessica’s album was never launched. At age sixteen, however, Columbia Records discovered her, placing Simpson under their wing.

In 2000, Simpson introduced her very first single entitled: “I Wanna Love You Forever” which reached the 3rd spot in Billboard’s Hot 100. Jessica then released her debut album “Sweet Kisses” in the same year and toured with 98 Degrees and Ricky Martin to promote her album, which eventually turned double platinum, with “I Think I’m In Love With You” and “Where You Are” becoming one of Simpson’s biggest hits. She then met and fell in love with Nick Lachey, one of the members of 98 Degrees, whom she dated for two years, then split up with. The couple reconciled after the September 11 attacks, with Jessica stating that she realized she wanted to be with Nick forever.

In mid-2001, Simpson’s sophomore album was released, with the lead single "Irresistible" considered as one of Jessica’s greatest hits. “Irresistible” first became number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100, then moved up to the 6th spot. Her album also became a success, debuting at the 6th spot on the Billboard 200 Album chart. From 2002-2005, Simpson released two more albums: “Breakthrough” and “In this Skin”, with the latter reaching the 10th spot on Billboards Hot 200 Album chart, selling over 60,000 copies just in its first release week. Simpson also launched “These Boots Are Made for Walkin’” in 2004 which was part of the soundtrack for “The Dukes of Hazzard”. The said song resulted to Jessica’s People's Choice Award in 2006 for the category: “Favorite Song from a Movie”.

It was also in 2006 when Jessica transferred from Columbia Records to Epic Records. Her fourth album entitled “A Public Affair” was launched in August of the same year under Epic Records. The album hit the 5th spot on the Billboard 200 Album Chart.

The following year, in 2007, Simpson started recording country music, wanting to go back to her roots as she came from Texas. In May last year (2008), her song: “Come On Over” was heard online, eventually played in country radio stations, becoming very successful and even beating Miranda Lambert’s "Me and Charlie Talking" and Brad Cotter’s track: "I Meant To". In September of the same year, Simpson’s country album “Do You Know” was launched, and became a chart-topper on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart in Canada and the United States, a first in Simpson’s career.

Jessica Simpson is currently dating Tony Romo, the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys. Their relationship started almost two years ago and at present, still going strong.
