Mayer's No.1 album a 'handbook on heartbreak'

John Mayer's new album Battle Studies has reached No. 1 spot on the US album chart this week, Billboard.com reported.


Mayer, who is on tour in Australia, called the album a "handbook on heartbreak". Award-winning Taylor Swift collaborated on the disc.


Andrea Bocelli's My Christmas came in at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. The Italian tenor this weekend kicks off a US tour with a guest appearance by Australian songstress Delta Goodrem in Florida.

Musician John Mayer has said that he has bonded with actor Gerard Butler as they have both been "branded womanisers".


The 32-year-old singer met Butler at LA hotspot Chateau Marmont while doing an interview for US magazine Details.


Asked about their chat, he said to the magazine: "We talked about New York... We're in a bit of the same position of being branded womanisers."

The 32-year-old singer, who has previously dated actresses such as Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Aniston and Jennifer Love Hewitt, admitted that he doesn't go after the girls as much as he'd like.


He said: "I should be having sex with more girls.


Mayer added: "It's crazy to me that in my head, that being 32 and dating women is going to get me in trouble.

The 32-year-old admitted that people don't make those type of spontaneous purchases because they are having a good day.


He said: "I have a Ferrari! I bought a Ferrari and drove it to Las Vegas on the day I bought it."

Musician John Mayer has said he would love to settle down and would have married his first girlfriend if she had been the one.


The 32-year-old star, who has previously dated stars such as Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Aniston, recently spoke about his new album Battle Studies and said he's ready to settle down.

US singer John Mayer has reportedly defended Britney Spears after her recent miming drama in Australia.


Spears, 27, came under fire from fans for lip-synching at her recent gig in Perth, which caused around 100 outraged fans to leave the venue mid-performance.


Mayer tweeted: "If you're shocked that Britney was lip-synching at her concert and want your money back, life may continue to be hard for you."


As well as her miming, fans were angry that the Gimme More singer only gave a generic greeting, saying "What's up Australia?" instead of mentioning the city by its name.

Singer John Mayer is reportedly dating actress Rashida Jones after they were spotted on a romantic date.


John, 32, who has previously dated actresses Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Aniston, was reportedly seen at the Chateau Marmont in Hollywood enjoying a romantic dinner date.


It is claimed that John "took the guitar from someone who was performing at the Chateau and performed an impromptu performance for Rashida".


The audience at the hotel included Paul Rudd and Jason Segel and an onlooker told Hollyscoop that the crowd "went wild when he performed his new song".

John Mayer has denied reports that he stormed out of a gay club after being kissed by a man.


The US musician was at a well known gay club in Palm Springs, California last week but denied that any kissing with another man took place - or that he angrily stormed off.
