Jordin Sparks Biography

Jordin Brianna Sparks, or simply “Jordin Sparks”, is a model, actress, and singer, all rolled into one. She was born in the year 1989 in Arizona and is born to Jodi Sparks and Phillippi Sparks. Her father Phillippi used to be an NFL football player. She is bi-racial because of her father being Black and her mother being White. Aside from loving music, Sparks also loves reading, watching football, and attending church.
Jordin has had her share of playacting. She performed in the play entiled: “Magdalene”, having the dual roles of Bea and Deborah. She also played parts in Arizona’s Valley Youth Theater. Sparks’ very first appearance was in the play: “The Wiz” in March of 2002, where she played the roles of one of Emerald City’s dancers and as a plant, to be specific, “a poppy”. Other productions she has joined include Cinderella and another series of The Wiz.
At the age of thirteen, Sparks launched an album entitled: “For Now”, which contained a total of five songs, mostly about Christianity. She collaborated with Matthew Ward who was a Christian artist as well as with Gary Leach, a sound engineer who had prior experience working with Leann Rimes. Jordin was also featured in “Live at Mr. Lucky's”, a compilation album which was released in 2004.
In the year 2007, Jordin Sparks became one of the hopefuls in Americal Idol, and also became one of the favorites of the judges. She bagged the title of American Idol 2007. She also won the Arizona Idol title prior to her victory at American Idol. A few years before her win at Arizona Idol, Jordin also claimed 2nd place at the national competition: “Music in the Rockies”, which was established to recognize aspiring artists under the genre: “Contemporary Christian Music”. She also won in America’s Most Talented Kids in 2004.
Even before American Idol, Sparks has had a lot of exposures. In fact, she has been requested to sing the national anthem at different sporting events as well as in events held in the “Country Thunder”. She has also performed with Alice Cooper in 2004 and has even toured with Michael Smith.
Jordin Sparks also had her shot at modeling when she became one of the winners of 2006’s “Next Plus Size Model”, a Phoenix Torrid competition. She was featured in a number of ads for the company and was featured in a full-page ad for Seventeen magazine in its December 2006 issue.
