Katy Perry in a moment of frankness revealed traces of her Christian upbringing have stuck.

Perry in Sydney to open at the landmark Enmore Theatre tonight, doesn't drink or smoke, still believes in God, adores kittens and loves to play dress-up.

And the best thing to dress up as, according to Perry, is a piece of fruit. She said: "I have fun being a girl and doing all the cute things girls do that they can't really explain to boys, because boys just don't understand."

Katy Perry wanted to throw caution to the wind and take the scary rides at a fair in Australia.

But her posse of security minders would not allow her to.

Perry, however, is strongly suspected of returning to the Ekka showgrounds and sideshow alley in Queensland after dark. "I wouldn't be surprised. It would be like her to sneak over and jump on a ride," said a Universal Music representative.

"She really wanted to go on some of the scarier rides and kept looking up at the bigger ones. But with all of her security there, the logistics were just too difficult. Plus with so many people knowing she was there, it just couldn't be done."

Katy Perry won't be appearing on the smash hit show in Australia, MasterChef.
"I can't even boil water, it would be hilarious if I went on that show but I'd probably end up burning the studio down," said the singer in Sydney.
Perry must have heard of the show's ratings power. The US singer kicks of her Australian tour next week with a series of Hello Katy concerts. Like Pink, who is on a mammoth tour Down Under, Perry is an American pop icon Australians have adopted as one of their own.

KATY Perry shows off her latest fashion accessory... a pair of huge red glasses.

The star also wore a bright blue jumper with a map of the world on the front- perhaps to help her remember what country she was in.

The I Kissed A Girl singer, 25, is currently in Australia for a series of concerts.

She was pictured on a shop assistant's iPhone at the Wheels & Doll Baby store in Sydney, Australia.

Katy Perry will join Victoria Beckham as a guest judge on American Idol, filling the void left by Paul Abdul.

The Fox show's bosses paid a tribute to Abdul, saying, "We were hoping Paula came back. We love Paula. She's been clearly wonderful on the show for eight years and was an important part of the Idol family," said Fox chairman of entertainment Peter Rice.

The Perry and Beckham additions were announced a day after Abdul pulled out of contention for the show's ninth season. She was said to be unable to agree on a pay deal.

Katy Perry has pulled out of a trip to the Far East at the last minute after doctors told her to rest for a week.

The I Kissed A Girl singer had been expected to headline at the Summer Sonic festival in Japan, set to take place this weekend.

Katy was scheduled to perform in Tokyo on Friday and Osaka on Sunday.

But the star cancelled at the last minute, apologising to fans as doctors told her she needed to rest her vocal chords.

The 24-year-old brunette pulled out just 24 hours after performing as an opening act for Gwen Stefani's band No Doubt in California.

She wrote after that performance that she hoped to emulate the band's success but wouldn't .....

Pop singer Katy Perry has revealed she wants to be like Gwen Stefani when she is older.

Perry, 24, who admitted that the No Doubt star, 39, is an inspiration for her, Twittered: "When I grow up I wanna be just like Gwen Stefani. It's not a race it's a marathon. I keep telling myself this. Think of the big picture.

"I think music is weird these days. The music industry doesn't let u grow anymore, everything has 2B now, so immediate. Like, watching Gwen tonight, that was 15 years in the making. Hot and Cold singer Katy Perry has admitted she isn't a fan of guys who suffer from Halitosis.

The 24-year-old star revealed an unfortunate experience she recently had with a guy with bad breath, and asked her Twitter followers for their opinions on the matter.

She Twittered: "Some1 next to me has a BAD case of halitosis & won't stop talking. I can't breathe. Don't know him but wonder if ne1's eva told him."

She later added: "r u the type of friend that wouldn't tell ur friend if they had something stuck in their teeth? What bout bad breath? Wouldn't u wanna know?

A US singer has branded Katy Perry a "f***ing little sl*t" for using the same title as her song I Kissed A Girl.

Jill Sobule, 44, is a singer/songwriter who released a track called I Kissed A Girl in 1995.

She has now branded singer Perry, 24, as "thieving" for using the same title for her track in 2008 despite it having a different tune and lyrics.

She said: "For those that don't know or are very young, I had a song in 1995 called I Kissed A Girl. When Katy Perry's version came out I started getting tons of inquiries about what I thought.

"Some folks (and protective friends) were angry, and wondered why she took my title and made it into this kind of 'girl .....

The fake marking, which Perry revealed beneath a summery T-shirt, appears to follow a trend among other celebs toward mispelling tattoos. Josh Grobin is a likely tribute to Josh Groban, spelled Grob-A-n.

Perry was spotted bouncing around in outfits with front zippers. She was also seen in a low-cut tie-dye look jumpsuit with strappy Roman style sandals. The singer grabbed a bite and hit 12 clothing stores in New York City.
