LeAnn Rimes Biography

Margaret LeAnne Rimes was born on August 28th 1982 in Pearl Mississippi. LeAnne is best known for her rick vocals and their similarity to country singer Pasty Cline. LeAnne became famous at the age of 13, and has been the youngest country music star since Tanya Tucker. Rimes has been influenced by Barbara Streisand, Wynonna Judd and Reba McEntire but her main influence was of course Pasty Cline.

Rimes is of french and Native American decent. Her family raised her in Garland Texas. By the age of two she was began to train in dance and vocals and by 5 she was performing in talent shows. Rimes started her music career in music theater and performed in a Texas production of "A Christmas Carol", and also landed the lead part in Annie on Broadway. At 9 she was a very experienced singer, and toured with her family and performed regularly for acappella renditions of The Star Spangled Banner at opening ceremonies for the Dallas Cowboys.

Rimes was eventually discovered by Dallas disc jockey Bill Mack. He was very impressed with the young girl and wanted her to sing his self written composition Blue. Blue was written 30 years earlier for by Patsy Cline but she had unfortunately been killed in a plane crash before she could record the song. Mack got Rimes a contract with Curb Records after they heard her sing the song Blue.

Rimes debut album Blue reached the number 1 spot on the Top Country Album chart, and went multi platinum. Rimes has steered a bit from her country routs, to a more country pop type genres.

2001-Present - dated Dean Sheremet (a backup dancer) and were eventually married in 2002
