I was depressed and I didnt want to let go of wat was depressing me because its wat I really wanted..kinda like embracing a porcupine..even if u sincerely luv it, it wil hurt u ...in th end i realised I had 2 let it go...bt it was painful & 'Lithiium' best describes how it was..how i feel..

Contrary to Ana-Chan, Lithium isn't used to treat depression per se, but bipolar and other mood disorders. Even though those disorders have nasty depressive symptoms, they have other symptoms - creativity, energy, ecstasy - which are harder let go of. So for bipolars, it's a tug-of-war - do they take Lithium, which curbs depression but also curbs some really fun stuff? Or is it better to view the depression as the price you pay for the good stuff, and try to keep your life in order without drugging yourself? So saying she's "in love with her sorrow" can be interpreted as "in love with my disease, even the bad part, and taking lithium will force me to let it go." That's my interpretation. Amy Lee has said straight out that she isn't bipolar, so who knows what it meant to her. I am, and that's how I interpret it, and why I think she wrote a brilliant song.

Well if u mean by wat she means by it I think shes talking about how she cant let go or get over her sorrow maybe something to do with depression since hence the songs name "Lithium" is used to treat depression. I think its about depression @.@
