    I totally know what this song means. Katy has a bf, obviously, and he won't talk 2 her. She's basically trying 2 figure him out but she can't really do that without him talking 2 her. She's kind of saying he's acting like a puppet and she wants a real man who talks, loves feels, and has a heart. She feels like she csn't get 2 his heart, she's wondering why and in the bridge{If the past is the problem...} she is kind of asking him why he's acting like a toy because all she wants is a real man...

    Thats kinda of right, She's n love with this guy BUT he's just ignoring her and she just wants 2 know why he's not acting like he's alive, hes a livin human being,ut he's just acting so closed in and wont say nothin but your mostly right just thought I'd add dat in
