Mariah Carey brought along her own toilet paper - and butterfly-shaped confetti - when she appeared on British television.

In the UK fulfilling charity engagements with a Christmas flavour, Carey has drawn a smattering of diva-reports. Her demands for a Christmas lighting at a Westfield shopping centre just about took the cake, with officials rejecting the calls for doves and kittens and sculpted confetti as a public health hazard.

Carey also required two people to lower her onto the sofa at GMTV, interviewer Kate Garraway revealed. They were part of an entourage Garraway reported was bigger than the TV crew.

Singer Mariah Carey reportedly spent £750,000 on her recent four-night trip to London.

Carey, 39, spent the money on first-class flights and spent £200,000 on hotel rooms on the top floor of The Dorchester hotel. She also reportedly spent £12,000 on hiring a Rolls-Royce and a Bentley.

Carey then held a party at the swanky Jalouse nightclub in Mayfair to promote her new album Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel, where guests drank £1,200-a-bottle champagne while her music videos were played on a screen.

A source said: "Mariah wanted a VIP area complete with white flowers, cupcakes, a white carpet and an £85,000 diamond-encrusted ice bucket.

Singer Mariah Carey has reportedly arranged a £10,000 champagne party for this year's winner of the X Factor.

The 39-year-old star recently performed on the hit UK talent show and has splashed out on champagne for the bash.

A source said to UK newspaper Daily Star Sunday: "She's been really impressed by everyone on the show and thinks whoever wins deserves to feel like a superstar.

"Her favourite brand costs around £1,000 a bottle so not everyone can get their hands on it that easily! The X Factor champ will feel they're on the A-list already."

Singer Mariah Carey has admitted she is a "diva" but denied making crazy demands.

The 39-year-old star recently turned on the Christmas lights at a London shopping centre and it was claimed she asked for white kittens and doves during her appearance.

Carey, who is married to US star Nick Cannon, was asked why she is often labelled a diva.

She said to UK radio station Heart: "Because I am a diva! So friggin' what? Who cares? Everybody is a diva today, you can't get anywhere without: 'Oh, the newest diva on the block...' Who cares?"

Asked if she's ever made any unreasonable demands, she said: "If they're in the entertainment industry? Hell no. Because everybo .....

Singer Mariah Carey turned up fashionably late to turn on the Christmas lights at a shopping centre in London.

The 39-year-old star kept fans waiting almost an hour at Westfield shopping centre in north London after she reportedly enjoyed several glasses of champagne with husband Nick Cannon at the Dorchester Hotel three miles away.

Hundreds of fans gathered to see the star at the centre's Southern Terrace, which had been lit up with pink lights at Carey's request.

As she stepped out of her car, pink and white confetti butterflies were scattered across the crowd.

British TV presenter Phillip Schofield ranted on Twitter as Mariah Carey turned up an hour late for their interview.

The 47-year-old was waiting at the This Morning studios for the diva and wrote on Twitter: "Sitting here twiddling our thumbs waiting. La la la laaa."

After Carey, 39, finally arrived he wrote: "She's just changing her mind about what she's wearing!!!!!"

But after the interview he added: "She was apologetic. And yes, an entourage greater than the population of Denmark."

The interview is to be shown on the popular daytime TV show next week.

Mariah Carey's request to be surrounded by 20 white kittens and 100 white doves to turn on the lights at a UK shopping centre has been rejected by health and safety officials.

Carey made the request for an appearance at the Westfield shopping complex in West London. Her contract's rider included being driven in a Rolls-Royce on a pink carpet to a pink podium where she will wave a wand to turn the lights on.

The songstress also asked for a 15-member entourage and about 80 security guards.

A source said the model of car for the shopping centre event had to be changed six times before Carey was satisfied.

Carey also asked for confetti shaped like butterflies .....

Singer Mariah Carey is to headline a gig at Madison Square Garden on New Year's Eve.

The 40-year-old songstress will be playing at Times Square, which in recent years, played host to bands such as Phish and My Morning Jacket who jammed their way into the new year.

The Obsessed star announced the gig on her Twitter page and on her website saying: "Join Mariah as she bids farewell to 2009 in superstar style and gets ready to ring in 2010!"

Details are not yet known about any opening guests or special guests, but Mariah will be performing her new singles Obsessed and H.A.T.E.U and other tracks from Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel.

Mariah Carey took to the sands of a Malibu beach to show off her tawny frame and a sly butterfly tattoo on the small of her back.

In photos that surfaced, Carey at 40 looked amazing and toned, as she waded in the waters of the beautiful California coastline. The singer, who has just released a new album titled Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel, was not kicking back. She was hard at work filming a video for a new single titled H.A.T.E.U.

Mariah Carey has expressed sympathy with Rihanna, saying she understands emotional and mental abuse.

Carey, 40, told Larry King Live: "I was very sequestered, as you know, when I first started out. I wasn't really allowed out of the house."

Carey, who is married to singer Nick Cannon, 29, would not be drawn on specifics but said she had painful episodes in a previous relationship.
