Michael Bublé has spoken out in defence of Britney Spears, saying the fuss over her lip-synching tour in Australia was grossly exaggerated.


"You'd think she killed someone," he said. "OK, she lip-synchs her show, people know that. They make the decision if they want to go and see her do that."


The Canadian singer, who is very popular in Australia, asked bluntly: "Does she deserve the way she's been completely bashed by the media here? No."


Spears's miming act has created a storm of controversy and soured her tour. She soldiered on, however, taking her children to the Sydney Aquarium and working her way through her tour dates.

The 34-year-old singer, who is currently dating Argentine actress Luisana, told how his craziest fan experience wasn't that long ago when a fan passed out while she was speaking to him.


He said to UK magazine OK!: "I'd just finished a show and I was outside a bar having a ciggie and a drink. This girl, she was probably 22 or 23, started talking.

The singer was appearing on Rachael Ray's TV chat show in the US, when a pregnant fan sitting in the front row with her husband revealed that her unborn baby constantly hears his music.


"We are major fans - I love you!" said the fan. "We have two little children that are always dancing around to you at home. We sing your songs to our baby all the time.”

Madonna has taken advantage of the credit crunch - by negotiating a US$7.5 million price cut on her new Manhattan townhouse, it has been claimed.


The singer was reported to have splashed out US$40 million on the 'London-style' mansion in the posh Upper East Side area of New York.


But now real estate insiders have revealed that the Material Girl star drove a hard bargain - and landed the property for just US$32.5 million.
