Michael Jackson Biography

Michael Joseph Jackson was born in Gary, Indiana on August 29th 1958, and passed away at the age of 50 on June 25, 2009. He was everything from a singer to record producer to a businessman. Michael started his career when he was only 5 years old, starring as the lead singer of the Jackson 5, which consisted of him and his male siblings. The group then signed with Motown records and had 4 singles with Jackson 5 that all went straight to No 1.
Michael�s first album �Off The Wall� was a huge success all around the world. His album �Thriller� was released in 1982, and was and still is the world�s largest selling album. Michael performed his signature moonwalk dance in 1983 on �The Motown 25 years� anniversary show.
During the concert of the Jackson�s Victory Tour, Michael announced that he was leaving the group and continuing on as a solo artist. In 1984, Michael, as a solo artist, broke records and won 8 Grammy Awards in one night.

Michael�s life was filled with controversy. In the early 1980�s, the public and media were noticing the changes to his skin tone, and facial features. His face was gradually growing paler and paler. According to Jackson he was diagnosed with vitiligo and lupus. The media swarmed him and had printed stories about Jackson sleeping in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber to keep him from aging, or Michael reportedly wanting the bones of the �elephant man�. Hence, his nickname �Wacko Jacko.� When talking to one reporter, Jackson says:
�Why not just tell people I�m an alien from Mars. Tell them I eat live chickens and do a voodoo dance at midnight. They�ll believe anything you say, because you�re a reporter. But If I, Michael Jackson, were to say, �I�m an alien from Mars and I eat live chickens and do a voodoo dance at midnight,� people would say �Oh, man, that Michael Jackson is nuts. He�s cracked up. You can�t believe a damn word that comes out of his mouth.�

In February of 1993, Jackson made an appearance on the Oprah Winfrey show where he talked about the abuse he suffered as a child because of his father, as well as denying all the recent rumors about him such as sleeping in the hyperbaric chamber. Later in that summer, a 13-yr old boy, Jordan Chandler and his father accused Jackson of child sexual abuse. Jordan had said that Jackson had allegedly touched his penis. The boy had also told police that that Jackson had took part in acts of masturbation, oral sex and kissing. Jackson�s estates were searched, as well as a full body search to see if the boys� description of Jackson�s genitals� were correct. Jackson was never convicted in court; the charges were dropped due to lack of evidence. However, Jackson paid the boy and his family $22 million. Then In 2003, Jackson was accused of sexual abuse again by another 13 year old boy, Gavin Arvizo. Elizabeth Taylor defended the pop star by saying she was present at the time of the alleged child abuse, and there was nothing odd or abnormal about the way they were together. A mental health professional had examined Jackson and said he does not fit the profile of a pedophile but just a �regressed 10-year old. � The pop star was acquitted of all charges.
Jackson was married twice, first to daughter of Elvis Presley, Lisa Marie Presley. They secretly married in the Dominican Republic and denied it to the media for almost two months after. They divorced 2 short years later, but still remain on good terms. His second married was to his dermatology nurse Deborah Jeanne Rowe. Rowe had to 2 children with Michael, son, Prince, and daughter, Paris. The two divorced in 1999, and Rowe granted full custody of their children to Michael. He had a third child with a surrogate mother in 2002, Prince Michael Jackson, also nicknamed �Blanket�.

Michael has left a huge legacy, he transformed music videos into more than just a video, paved the way for the music we have today and broke the racial barriers that existed in pop culture. He was put into the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1984, won 13 Grammy Awards, was awarded with the Best-Selling Pop Male Artists of the Millennium award, as well as put in to the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and broke numerous Guinness World Records.
His legend will carry on forever as �The King of Pop.�
