Madonna drives hard bargain to get new home

Madonna has taken advantage of the credit crunch - by negotiating a US$7.5 million price cut on her new Manhattan townhouse, it has been claimed.

The singer was reported to have splashed out US$40 million on the 'London-style' mansion in the posh Upper East Side area of New York.

But now real estate insiders have revealed that the Material Girl star drove a hard bargain - and landed the property for just US$32.5 million.

A US newspaper reports: "It turned out [she]... had not lost her street smarts.

"She actually received a significant discount."

They say "brokers briefed on the transaction" were surprised at the bargain price.

With Ministry's final hometown show sold-out, the band has added a second Chicago stop to their "C U LaTouR." The date is one of four additions to Ministry's career-closing run of the U.S., including concerts in Calgary, Albuquerque and Ft. Lauderdale. Paul Raven, pioneering bassist of the industrial metal band Ministry, was found dead in a private home in France on October 20. His passing appears to be the result of a heart attack. Ministry's frontman, Al Jourgensen has confirmed fans' worst fear: the upcoming album, The Last Sucker (out September 18), will be the band's last. Jourgensen has said the decision was made based on the amount of other projects he is focusing on.
