Music Of The Night Lyrics

Phantom Of The Opera

Night time sharpens, heightens each sensation Darkness stirs and wakes imagination Silently the senses abandon their defenses
Slowly, gently night unfurls its splendor Grasp it, sense it, tremulous and tender Turn your face away from the garish light of day Turn your thoughts away from cold unfeeling light And listen to the music of the night
Close your eyes and surrender to your darkest dreams Purge your thoughts of the life you knew before Close your eyes, let your spirit start to soar And you live as you've never lived before
Softly, deftly, music shall caress you Hear it, feel it secretly possess you Open up your mind, let your fantasies unwind In this darkness that you know you cannot fight The darkness of the music of the night
Let your mind start a journey to a strange new world Leave all thoughts of the life you knew before Let your soul take you where you long to be Only then can you belong to me
Floating, falling, sweet intoxication Touch me, trust me, savor each sensation Let the dream begin, let your darker side give in To the power of the music that I write The power of the music of the night
You alone can make my song take flight Help me make the music of the night

Tell Us What These Lyrics Mean To You...

Phantomphriend

The Phantom is clearly trying to drive a wedge between Christine and the outside world here. He has had no competition for her to this point. To put the basis of this story down to good vs. evil is to ignore the root cause of this charactor's violence. Discrimiation based soley on his appearance. Had he been given the attention he desirved based on his talents he would not have felt so lost as to turn to the acts that he did. "A mask my first unfeeling scrap of clothing..."

This would be epic in a minor key

I think I understand the phantom very well. You know when you have a pet that you nurtured and made it to be the envy of all animals in the world, you will be possessive of that pet. That is exactly what happened to Eric. He became possessive and obsessed with Christine when he found out that Raoul is in love with Chjristine and Christine with him (Raoul). He started killing and making Christine afraid of him and in the end he lost everything, his love for Christine, his friendship with Madam Gary and his home been the Theater but most of all, he stopped writing his music of the night.

I guess this is open to interpretation. To me, this is a classic story of one person's struggle between good and evil. I see the Phantom as a satanic character, but in the "Exorcist" sense. Rather, he is sensual, tempting, exciting, dark and deceitful (granted, very seductive), whereas Raoul is faithful, honest and protective, if somewhat dull. At first, the Phantom seeks to possess Christine for his own purposes, but in the end he does fall in love wiith her.

boricuagirl19 This song is a double entedre. It is about music (the melodious sound) and sex. From Christine's POV, he's singing about "music" from HIS POV he's singing about DESIRE, and about wanting to make love to her. "The Music of the night" refers both to music itself, and the melodious sounds that they will make making love together.

Hi! I woul like to know the meaning of this song. I would like to know what do people think. I think in this song Phantom is telling to Christine to be, to live, dream and fantasise even though in society that is overated. I think the song invites us to let our deepest darkest side(not necesarily our so called bad or evil side, just the side the we hide that is eventually who we really are) unfold. Make any sense? But I want to hear different interpretations of the song so get inspired and let me know, ha ha ha.
