10 Songs That Will INSTANTLY Put You In A Good Mood: Part Two
You asked, and we delivered! Part two of our popular "good mood" playlist has arrived...
A little over a year ago, we were simply having a bad day and decided to compile a list of 10 songs to shake those feelings of negativity. It looks like you guys really loved our playlist, so we thought: why not get a fresh look at the best feel-good songs of today and yesterday, respectively, and make a SECOND updated version? Getting out of the dumps is as easy as playing a song: whether it's the lyrics, the melody, or the combination of the two, music definitely has the power to lift our mood.
Continuing on from our previous list, here's our 10 Songs That Will INSTANTLY Put You In A Good Mood: Part Two...
11. Pharrell Williams -- Happy
"Because I'm happy / Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth..."
There's just no doubt that Pharrell's "Happy" is everybody's anthem for having a good time right now. Clap along, y'all!
12. Nena -- 99 Luftballoons
"Floating in the summer sky / 99 red balloons go by..."
The lyrical content behind 80's German rockers Nena is a bit of a radical statement (cities falling down, the government failing, etc) but the image of 99 red balloons floating in the sky (plus the catchy melody!) gives us a good feeling.
13. American Authors -- Best Day Of My Life
"This is gonna be, this is gonna be, this is gonna be / The best day of my life / Everything is looking up, everybody up now..."
This song says it all! If you have the mindset that today is gonna be the best day of your life, then it will be. It's science.
14. Beyonce -- Love On Top
"Baby it's you / You're the one I love / You're the one I need / You're the only one I see..."
Baby it's YOU! We can't help by grin from ear-to-ear when we throw on Beyonce's "Love On Top", because what else is better than Queen Bey going up key after key in the refrain near the tail-end of the song?
15. Dexy's Midnight Runners -- Come On Eileen
"Come on Eileen, oh I swear what he means / At this moment, you mean everything..."
When it comes to a pop-rock-honky-tonk anthem that will never fail to get stuck in our heads as soon as we hear it, the singalong "Come On Eileen" is a perfect upper.
16. Rita Ora -- I Will Never Let You Down
"When you say you've had enough and you might just give it up / Oh ooh, I will never let you down..."
Here's to supporting the one you love! Rita's never going to let you down, even on the darkest of days.
17. Electric Light Orchestra -- Mr. Blue Sky
"Sun is shinin' in the sky / There ain't a cloud in sight / It's stopped rainin', everybody's in a play / And don't you know, it's a beautiful new day..."
If you can listen to this song and not feel remotely positive throughout, we think you're a robot.
18. Aloe Blacc -- The Man
"Stand up now and face the sun / Won't hide my tail or turn and run / It's time to do what must be done / Be a king when kingdom come..."
R&B crooner Aloe Blacc knows how to pen some seriously tunes. He's the man, he's the man, he's the man!
19. The Temptations -- My Girl
"I've got sunshine on a cloudy day / When it's cold outside, I've got the month of May / I guess you'd say / What can make me feel this way? / My girl..."
Can we talk about how this is the ultimate classic pick-me-up jam? Even decades after its release, "My Girl" will never fail to make us feel all lovey-dovey. Sigh.
20. Len -- Steal My Sunshine
"I know it's up for me / If you steal my sunshine / Making sure I'm not in too deep / If you steal my sunshine / Keeping versed and on my feet / If you steal my sunshine..."
What's better than Len's late-90s anthem about feelin' good in the summertime? Nothing. Absolutely nothing.
