2012 In Review: Our Favorite Interviews Of The Year

Gotye Carly Rae Jepsen Niall Horan

For MetroLyrics, 2012 has honestly been our biggest year to date! That's why we're taking a look back at the year throughout the following week to highlight the best content we've curated, and sharing it with you. <3 First things first, we're revisiting our favorite interviews of 2012, and we gotta say: they were HUGE. From an Australian singer/songwriter gone viral to an up-and-coming Canadian folk artist to a British teen pop sensation, we spoke to some of the biggest pop artists in the world this year, and they made the cut for our best of the best:

Gotye

We spoke to the "Somebody That I Used To Know" hitmaker in April, and we got the scoop on how he came to write the break-up song that made him famous around the world.

Favorite quote: "It's amazing to see people going absolutely crazy singing along with every song and every word. It's kind of exciting, and kind of freaky as well."

Carly Rae Jepsen

Back at the end of February when Carly Rae Jepsen was on the cusp of being a household name, we interviewed the budding star just after Justin Bieber's team took her under their wing. Speaking with her about her departure from folk music to pop music, we found out the songwriting process behind her smash "Call Me Maybe" and more.

Favorite quote: "The one thing that I've learned from my journey so far is that you don't know where that break is gonna be, so don't shy away from trying it all."

Niall Horan of One Direction

Niall Horan, everybody's favorite blonde One Direction member, was the first high-profile artist we ever had the privilege of speaking to, at the beginning of February 2012. We did talk with the fair-haired cutie about how 1D write their music, but we just had to know more about his celebrity crush!

Favorite quote: "You know Demi Lovato? She's hot and she don't know it."
