5 ACL Festival Performers Who You Might Not Know But Need To

Get to know these five acts playing the famous music fest this weekend!

It's the last weekend of the Austin City Limits music festival, and if you're going / planning on going, we have a handful of lesser-known artists that we think y'all should know about. Who knows, any of these five acts could be your new favorite artist! Count down with us as we get you guys in the know about some under-the-radar performers at the 2013 ACL fest:

5. Portugal. The Man
We're fans of Portland, Oregon rockers Portugal. The Man because of their ability to write fun, catchy songs that have a deep lyrical message. Take their song "Purple Yellow Red & Blue", for example: the lyrics are essentially told from the point of view of somebody that wants to be rich and famous and happy and free by doing...absolutely nothing. They comment on today's capitalistic society in a way that's boppy and light.

4. Walk The Moon

We first got to learn about Ohio band Walk The Moon when their shared their My Musical Mind surveys with us back in the summer of 2012. The pop-rock foursome first gained fans with their single "Anna Sun", and now they're hard at work on their upcoming yet-to-be-titled third album. We heard they're amazing live!

3. Lissie

We're always a fan of singer/songwriters like Lissie, who also shared her My Musical Mind survey with us this past July. Coming out of Illinois, she now resides in California, and her upcoming album Back To Forever is due out October 15th. Keep your eyes peeled on Lissie!

2. The Mowgli's

Eight-piece alt-rockers The Mowgli's have been on our radar since we got to know them in November of last year. Letting us peek into their My Musical Minds, we learned that the band is all about peace, love, and music, which is right up our alley. They're actually pretty well-known these days with their single "San Francisco", so there's definitely a chance you've heard 'em once or twice.

1. Twin Forks
Dashboard Confessional frontmant Chris Carrabba's new musical project Twin Forks was introduced to us when we premiered their lyric video for their sweet single "Cross My Mind". The folk/Americana effort has been in the works for a couple of years, but finally made their debut in 2013, and their EP is currently available for download on iTunes.
