5 Songs That Celebrate Moon Day (Playlistin')

Did you know that July 20th marks the 43rd anniversary of the moon landing? Back in 1969, astronauts first touched down onto the moon's surface on this momentous day. So what better way to celebrate than with a playlist chock full of tunes that mention our lovely moon? It's a fairly common songwriting subject: from Frank Sinatra's "Fly Me To The Moon" to REM's "Man On The Moon", lots of different artists from different genres love paying homage to the big white ball in the night sky. So, without further ado, we're counting down 5 songs that name-drop the moon in their lyrics:

5. Far East Movement — Rocketeer

"You make me feel like I could touch the planets / You want the moon, girl watch me grab it / See I ain't never seen the stars this close / You got me struck by the way you glow"

"When I look at you, I see forgiveness, I see the truth / You love me for who I am like the stars hold the moon / Right there where they belong / And I know I'm not alone"

3. Eminem — Not Afraid

2. Gwen Stefani — 4 In The Morning

"Wakin' up to find another day / The moon got lost again last night / But now the sun has finally had its say / I guess I feel alright"
