With the Conrad Murray trial having reached a verdict, we want to put all that negativity in the past. Lets focus on what Michael Jackson, the King of Pop should (and will) be remembered for: his incredible talent.
We asked a few people from the MetroLyrics staff to pick and write about their favorite Michael Jackson song EVER. Here's what they had to say:
AH: I Want You Back
'Oh baby, all I need is one more chance / (Show you that I love you) / Won't you please let me / Back in your heart'
When I was little, I had a Motown compilation CD that is permanently warped from overplaying it. My fave song on the album just happened to be The Jackson 5's "I Want You Back". Despite the desperate, heart-broken lyrics, the track itself is one of the happiest tunes I've ever heard and it'll never fail to put a smile on my face.
OS:You Rock My World
'You rocked my world you know you did / And everything I own I give / The rarest love, who'd think I'd find / Someone like you to call mine'
I don't know where I got the nerve to call a song from Michael's post-2000 catalogue a favourite, but here goes: "You Rock My World" is a classic. Lyrically, the song finds Michael singing about pursuing the affections of a woman. But what the track does best is make you want to dance. Like, anywhere. Possibly even on top of a bar like Mike in the video. Be careful with that though.
This song is the epitome of disco-dance-fever! Whenever I hear it, something in my brain FORBIDS me to stay still and I just have to move my body, even if it's just a tap of the foot in the doctor's office waiting room. On top of having a killer beat and disco strings, the lyrics are so easy to remember: 'Keep on with the force don't stop / Don't stop til you get enough!' that's basically the whole song!
Now it's your turn! Tell us your favorite Michael song and why in the comments!
