"Call Me Maybe" + "Somebody That I Used To Know" Gets Lyrically Mashed Up

Gotye Somebody That I Used To Know

Have you been wondering what a lyrical mashup of Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" and Gotye's "Somebody That I Used To Know" would sound like? Enter Pomplamoose, a hip music duo who did just that: create an entirely new song from the lyrics of the music world's biggest hits at the moment. Entitled "Do Not Push", Pomplamoose gives a cool, electro-pop feel to the combination of the two songs, using the anthemic Gotye chorus ("BUT YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO CUT ME OFF!") with Carly's sweet lyric lines ("Before you came into my life, I missed you so bad"). Who knew that both song's lyrics would sound so great together?

Watch the video for Pomplamoose's "Do Not Push" and get the lyrics below: what are your thoughts on the lyrical mash-up?

I threw a wish in the well
Don't ask me, I'll never tell
I looked to you as it fell
And now you're in my way

I'd trade my soul for a wish
Pennies and dimes for a kiss
I wasn't looking for this
But now you're in my way

But you didn't have to cut me off
Make out like it never happened
And that we were nothing
And I don't even need your love
But you treat me like a stranger
And that feels so rough
You didn't have to stoop so low
Have your friends collect your records
And then change your number
I guess that I don't need that though
Now you're just somebody that I used to know

You took your time with the call
I took no time with the fall
You gave me nothing at all
But still, you're in my way

I beg, and borrow and steal
Have foresight and it's real
I didn't know I would feel it
But it's in my way

But you didn't have to cut me off
Make out like it never happened
And that we were nothing
And I don't even need your love
But you treat me like a stranger
And that feels so rough
You didn't have to stoop so low
Have your friends collect your records
And then change your number
I guess that I don't need that though
Now you're just somebody that I used to know

Somebody that I used to know
Somebody
Before you came into my life
I missed you so bad
I missed you so bad
I missed you so so bad

Before you came into my life
I missed you so bad
And you should know that
I missed you so so bad
You didn't have to stoop so low
Have your friends collect your records
And then change your number
I guess that I don't need that though
Now you're just somebody that I used to know
But you didn't have to cut me off
Make out like it never happened
And that we were nothing
And I don't even need your love
But you treat me like a stranger
And that feels so rough
You didn't have to stoop so low
Have your friends collect your records
And then change your number
I guess that I don't need that though
Now you're just somebody that I used to know

Somebody
Somebody that I used to know
Before you came into my life
I missed you so bad
