Happy Birthday Eminem!
If 40 is the new 20, then Eminem just turned 19! Yep, Slim Shady/B-Rabbit/Marshall Mathers is the big 3-9 today and we couldn't be more proud. Eminem came onto the scene over a decade ago and between his 6 studio albums, he's brought us the verb "stan", made one of the most successful rap biopics, and boosted peroxide sales.
The man has definitely paid his dues, so we thought we'd honor Marshall with our favorite Eminem "birthday" lyrics:
1. Yellow Brick Road
He looked at me like I'm out my mind / Shook his head like white boys don't know how to rhyme / I spit out a line and rhymed birthday with first place / And we both had the same rhymes that sound alike
Em takes us on a trip down memory lane when he first met Proof and busted some rhymes for him. The "birthday/first place" line in question? See below!
2. Still Don't Give A F**k
From the second I was born, my momma lost me / I'm a cross between Manson, Esham and Ozzy / I don't know why the f**k I'm here in the first place / My worst day on this earth was my first birthday
Yikes. It's probably a good idea to get your "worst birthday on earth" out of the way early. Once you're at the bottom, there's no way to go but up!
3. We Made You
You're my Amy, I'm your Blake / Matter fact make me a birthday cake / With a saw blade in it to make my jail break / Baby, I think you just met your soul mate
I guess if you're locked up during your birthday, like Amy Winehouse's (RIP) on again off again bf Blake Civil Fielder was, you'd ask for escape tools, too.
4. Sweet Home Alabama
Here happy birthday rabbit / Heres a brand new car you can have it / A nine-teen twenty-eight Delta / This sh*t wont even get me to the shelter!
This is from Em's freestyle with Mikhail Pfeiffer in 8 Mile. So if you haven't seen 8 Mile, spoiler alert! Eminem's mom gives him a broken car for his birthday. It's cool though, he's got a Hummer now. Yay!
And if you haven't seen his latest video as part of his rap duo, Bad Meets Evil, for "Lighters", give it a watch on 101.5 Jamz.
