Kimbra's 'Love In High Places' Lyric Video Is a True Work of Art
We've got the premiere of the 'Somebody That I Used To Know' singer's new lyric video and it's a MUST see
Even if you don't know her by name, you've almost certainly heard Kimbra's voice. The New Zealand native broke out in 2012 as the featured artist on Gotye's smash hit song "Somebody That I Used to Know," sparking a whirlwind of performances and appearances around the globe, culminating in two GRAMMY wins for Record of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 55th annual GRAMMY awards in 2013. But going from relative unknown to one half of the duo behind a worldwide smash hit can be a lot to take in, and shortly after the GRAMMY Awards, Kimbra settled down on a sheep farm in L.A.'s Silver Lake neighborhood, seeking a break from the spotlight and an inspiring place to write her next album.
"I'd been caught up with all the Grammy and Gotye stuff happening, and the touring, the constant affirmation — or praise, or criticism, or self-reflection — everywhere," said Kimbra in a recent press-release. "You get wrapped up in it. Then here I was chilling with a bunch of sheep. And they don't give a crap who you are. You're not special to them. You spend time with them and there's this beautiful kind of harmony of how everything works in that environment. It was a really great place to create."
The result of that time spent on the sheep farm is Kimbra's upcoming LP The Golden Echo, out August 19. So far we've heard album tracks "90s Music," "Nobody But You" (co-written by John Legend), and "Miracle," and today we're bringing you an exclusive look at the brand new lyric video for a new track entitled "Love In High Places." The clip features exquisite hand-drawn artwork and, to be frank, is one of the better videos we've ever seen, and we see A LOT of lyric videos around here.
Watch the "Love In High Places" lyric video, created by artist Timothy Armstrong, below, and be sure to look for The Golden Echo this August 19th, and available for pre-order now on iTunes.
