Lady Gaga Is Atop Our #TrendingTuesday Countdown
See who else we can't get enough of this week!
Welcome back to another edition of #TrendingTuesday, everybody! Each week, we listen to the dozens of new and hot pop songs that hit the World Wide Web, and we compile a list of our fave 10 for you to listen to. Topping this week's #TT countdown is none other than Mother Monster herself, due to a high-profile music video she just dropped, and keep a lookout for a popular Latin songstress and an infamous garage-rock duo showing up this #TrendingTuesday. So, what's the holdup? Join us as we go from 10 to 1 on our list:
10. DWNTWN - Til Tomorrow
Why it's trending: We got to know pop newcomers DWNTWN when we premiered their lyric video for this same song, and we gotta say, it's some catchy stuff. If you're a fan of upbeat pop-rock from a pair of male & female singers, you're prooooobably gonna love this track.
Best lyric line: "I fell off, took some time off, and now I'm left behind / Where am I closing my eyes / Cuz my heart's slowly beating till tomorrow / Yeah I'm scared I lost my way..."
9. Dan + Shay - Show You Off
Why it's trending: Country duo Dan + Shay just released their debut album, Where It All Began, this very day, and the album's first single is slowly but surely making its way onto the charts. With heavy elements of pop to their music (watch out T.Swift), we're thinking these heartthrobs-in-the-making could be the ~next big thang~.
Best lyric line: "And I'mma tattoo your name on my arm / Baby I just wanna show you off..."
8. Ray LaMontagne - Airwaves
Why it's trending: As the alt-folk icon of our time, we're stoked that Ray LaMontagne is back with a forthcoming LP, Supernova, due out this May. Produced by The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach, the record has the potential to take on more of a garage-rock angle, but "Airwaves" definitely stays true to his signature contemporary sound.
Best lyric line: "Man, sure do look pretty, she said / Feels so good to get myself out of the city / Through the airwaves..."
7. Future - Covered N Money
Why it's trending: As the latest single from the R&B crooner / hip-hop star, Future's "Covered N Money" is one of the more literal songs we've heard in a while. He's legit covered in money, head to toe, so he decided to write a song about it. Ballin'.
Best lyric line: "I'm goin' back to court before they start taking a trial / I heard what you told to the judge / I been gettin' money like this for a while..."
6. Cody Simpson - SURFBOARD
Why it's trending: Aussie cutie Cody Simpson's newest single totally took Beyonce's epic "Drunk In Love" lyric line -- SERFBORT -- and transformed it into a pop hit of his own. We'd have a problem with this if a) it wasn't so dang catchy and b) he wasn't so adorable.
Best lyric line: "So come on, let the ocean take us away / 'Til we see the daylight come / And I know that it's getting late, but we wanna stay / She on my surfboard..."
5. Luke Bryan - She Get Me High
Why it's trending: As one of our favorite country stars, there's no wonder we're pumped on Luke Bryan putting out his new EP Spring Break 6...Like We Ain't Ever. The releases' debut single, "She Get Me High", definitely puts us in the mood for spring break: as we speak, we're currently blasting this track and heading for the beach. No biggie.
Best lyric line: "On top of my Yeti / On an old boat dock / Standing in the river on an old flint rock / Twelve roads by / She get me high..."
4. Karmin - Pulses
Why it's trending: Oh, Karmin, how much do we love you? Let us count the ways. Not only did they premiere every lyric to their new album Pulses with us, they also sat down with us and gave an interesting interview as to how they write their tunes. The title track from their very first LP is one of our faves!
Best lyric line: "I wanna raise pulses / La chica with the most-est / Not in the mood for the average Josephs..."
3. The Black Keys - Fever
Why it's trending: Attention Black Keys fans: the group just dropped this new single out of nowhere, and it's giving rock fans a "Fever"! With the announcement of the fever-inducing track, they've also revealed their new album Turn Blue is out in May, which is essentially making the entire Internet freak out.
Best lyric line: "Fever, where'd you run to? / Fever, where'd you run to? / Acting right is so routine / Fever, let me live a dream..."
2. Shakira - Cut Me Deep (ft. MAGIC!)
Why it's trending: Seeing as Shakira's eponymous new album dropped today, we wanted to include a track we thought might be one of the album's best on this #TT list. Featuring the Canadian reggae-pop band MAGIC!, it's a sweet-yet-sour track that begs the question to a lover: why do you keep cutting me deep?
Best lyric line: "'Cause you cut me deep / Your words are like steel / And now I can't sleep / 'Cause I'll never heal..."
1. Lady Gaga - G.U.Y. (Girl Under You)
Why it's trending: You saw the epic new video from Lady Gaga, right? Starring a smattering of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Mother Monster's music vid for "G.U.Y." has everybody talking, and it's only fair that the infectious pop ode tops our #TrendingTuesday list.
Best lyric line: "I don't need to be on top to know I'm wanted / Cuz I'm strong enough to know the truth..."
