The Best Love Songs EVER, Chosen By You
We asked, you answered! Here's the 6 best songs about L-O-V-E according to YOU.
Love. It's a great feeling, isn't it? You stomach does somersaults, your heart races, and you check your phone for texts every 5 seconds with rushes of excitement. One of the most common and loveliest parts of being in love (is that enough of the "L" word for you?) is listening to music and finding new meaning in the romantic songs you had previously disregarded. Suddenly, every song is speaking directly to you about your relationship, and every lyric takes on so much more weight. We asked all you love-sick lovers what the best love songs of all time were, and you really came through with the suggestions! Here they are, as chosen by YOU:
P.S.The "Love" word-count in this post is currently at 7...prepare for it to climb!
Nat King Cole - Unforgettable (submitted by Sue Moretti Syverson)
"That's why, darling, it's incredible / That someone so unforgettable / Thinks that I am unforgettable too..."
The oldest song on our list is also the most timeless. Nat King Cole said it best: when you fall in love with somebody, they become unforgettable, and the sentiment is just so lovely to us that we think we're gonna shed a tear or two. :')
Celine Dion - The Power Of Love (submitted by Zakatshi Ziko Gentelman)
"We're heading for something / Somewhere I've never been / Sometimes I am frightened / But I'm ready to learn / Of the power of love..."
Love her or loathe her, Celine Dion was the ultimate love song diva in the 1990s. In fact, we're pretty sure it's illegal to make a love song post without including a Celine Dion track!
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here (submitted by Ema Kokinovska)
"How I wish, how I wish you were here / We're just two lost souls / Swimming in a fish bowl / Year after year..."
This might not be a typical choice for a love song, but we think it belongs on this list just the same. The desperate lyrics, soulful guitar licks, and passionate vocals make Pink Floyd's lament about wanting to be with the person they love is a situation we've all been in.
Selena Gomez - Love You Like A Love Song (submitted by Chloe White)
"No one compares, you stand alone / To every record I own / Music to my heart, that's what you are / A song that goes on and on..."
Now we're getting more modern with our second set of songs, and Selena Gomez gets things off to a groovy start. We totally dig the songwriting in this hit track about comparing your love to somebody to your love of music — it's unique and adorable!
Jason Derulo - It Girl (submitted by Melinda Kazazi)
"Lovin' you could be a crime / Crazy how we fit girl / This is it girl / Give me 25 to life..."
Jason Derulo's lyrics to his "It Girl" pretty much mean that, well, this is it girl! You're the girl for me and I love you so much it's a crime. If that isn't a special way to tell somebody you're nuts about them, then we don't know what is.
Christina Perri - A Thousand Years (submitted by Asz Wanie)
"I have died everyday waiting for you / Darlin' don't be afraid / I have loved you for a thousand years / I'll love you for a thousand more..."
Written for the Twilight: Breaking Dawn soundtrack, you just KNOW this is gotta be a romantic song. Christina Perri's poetic lyrics about finally getting her moment alone with the person she loves is truly beautiful. *sigh*
