People, we have a new Supergroup on our hands! Damon Albarn - Blur frontman,Gorillaz member and all-around musician is at it again; he just put together Rocketjuice and the Moon. The new group is comprised of Albarn, Tony Allen (afrobeat drummer extraordinaire) and Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers! Their sound is chilled-out rock mixed with jazzy instrumentals and Albarn on vocals.

This isn't the first Supergroup Damon Albarn has created: in 2007, he released an album with his group The Good, The Bad & the Queen featuring members from The Verve, and The Clash, and produced by Danger Mouse. Let's take a look at the most popular Blur, Gorillaz, and Red Hot Chili Peppers songs to get a feel for the members of this new band...

Blur - Song 2

I got my head checked / By a jumbo jet / It wasn't easy / But nothing is, no

It's no surprise that "Song 2" is Blur's most popular lyrics page on our site having blownup the radio-waves in the 90's. It could also have to do with the fact that it's kind of hard to understand the words, and people were curious to know! If Albarn can bring any of this rock and roll attitude to the new group, we'll definitely be tuning in.

Gorillaz - Stylo

Love, electricity, shock wave central / Power on the motherboard, yes / Push up, overload, legendary heavy glow / Sunshine, thunder roll, keep this all together

To be honest, we're surprised that this song was the top Gorillaz song on our site! We were expecting something like DARE or Feel Good Inc. but this song took the prize. It definitely reflects the spooky off-kilter style in Rocketjuice's Poison (posted above).

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Snow (Hey Oh)

Deep beneath the cover of another perfect wonder / Where it's so white as snow / Privately divided by a world so undecided / And there's nowhere to go

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are known for their awesome bass-lines and obviously, they have Flea to thank for that. If he can bring his musical prowess to the new group (he is widely considered to be one of the best bassists EVER) then they'll be well on their way to a hit album.

Our friends at Last.fm Trends took a look at scrobbles and analyzed the popularity of these bands in relation to the new supergroup, check it out for some interesting stats!

Rocketjuice and the Moon's album is scheduled to come out sometime in 2012 but until then, they released some live audio on Youtube for you to listen to! What do you think?
