Paramore, Little Mix, and J.Lo Top Our Trending Tuesday List
These 10 #TrendingTuesday songs are on our radar this week!
Check the calendar today? That's correct: it's Trending Tuesday, where we highlight ten songs that are currently on our radar. This week, Paramore's latest single is climbing up the charts, as well as the new hit from J.Lo and a pro-self-esteem anthem from Little Mix. We've put the songs (that we took from Spotify) with the best lyrics from the track, so slip those headphones on and join us as we count down the best songs of the week, in our humble opinion:
10. Eric Church - Give Me Back My Hometown
Why it's trending: Dropping his brand new, critically-acclaimed album The Outsiders today, country star Eric Church's single about feeling pride for where he grew up when others simply put it down is a pretty powerful country tune that we have been playing ever since it came out in January. Go Eric!
Best lyric line: "Thinkin' about you sittin' there sayin' I hate this, I hate it / If you couldn't stand livin' here why'd you take it, take it / Give me back my hometown..."
9. Hot Chelle Rae - Don't Say Goodnight
Why it's trending: With a hashtag for a name, Hot Chelle Rae's new single definitely was made to trend! It's another song about living life in the present (think "YOLO" for 2014), and we had the pleasure of premiering the lyrics before the track came out last week, a-thank-you-very-much.
Best lyric line: "I see love in your eyes / And if you see it in mine / Let's wait 'til tomorrow / Don't say good, say good / Please don't say goodnight..."
8. U2 - Invisible
Why it's trending: Ever the activists, U2 are back with their track "Invisible", and the profits from the track will be going towards AIDS research via the RED campaign. Lyrically, it speaks up for people who are affected by the disease -- they are not invisible just because of their affliction.
Best lyric line: "I'm more than you know / A body in a soul / You don't see me but you will / I am not invisible..."
7. Avicii - Addicted To You
Why it's trending: Over here at Metrolyrics, it's no surprise that we love Avicii's True. Packed with hooky electro-meets-adult contemporary jams, "Addicted To You" is the hot new single from the record, and with smoky, soulful vocals over the fast-paced music, we simply can't get enough!
Best lyric line: "I'm addicted to you, hooked on your love / Like a powerful drug I can't get enough of / Lost in your eyes, drowning in blue / Out of control, what can I do?"
6. Lily Allen - Air Balloon
Why it's trending: Who isn't excited for the return of cheeky pop queen Lily Allen? Putting on her best M.I.A. vocals for "Air Balloon", this silly-yet-satisfying pop jam is just as uplifting as a ride in an air balloon would be.
Best lyric line: "Come meet me in the sky I'll be waiting for you / And we can't hear what they say / Up in my air balloon..."
5. Jennifer Lopez - Same Girl
Why it's trending: First of all, we just have to comment on how J.Lo doesn't appear to age. Check out her single cover -- she's looked the same for the past 20 years! Maybe that's why the title "Same Girl" for her 2014 comeback single was used...
Best lyric line: "Too damn grown, I don't owe nobody / Get off of me / Get off of me / Cuz in the end I'm still the same girl..."
4. Justin Bieber - Confident
Why it's trending: Personally, we think that this is the best track by FAR by the Biebs. Featuring buzzworthy hip-hop artist Chance The Rapper, in spite of all of Bieber's current controversy in his life, at least he's got a decent single under his belt right now.
Best lyric line: "Oh no no, oh no no / She's confident / You could tell by the way she walks in the room..."
3. Lana Del Rey - Once Upon A Dream
Why it's trending: The more we listen to this haunting LDR cover of the Disney Sleeping Beauty cover, the more we adore it. Made for the upcoming live-action film featured around the famous movie's villain, it's safe to say that we're catching this flick hoping to hear "Once Upon A Dream" play somewhere in it.
Best lyric line: "I know it's true that visions are seldom all they seem / But if I know you, I know what you'll do / You'll love me at once, the way you did once upon a dream..."
2. Little Mix - Little Me
Why it's trending: Little Mix is back with their sophomore release Salute, and their second single from the record is one of the more positive releases by a girl group we've heard in years. The lyrical message has the members singing to their younger selves, their "little me"s, telling them that they are beautiful and wonderful and they can do anything they set their minds to. So lovely!
Best lyric line: "You gotta speak up, you gotta shout out / And know that right here, right now / You can be beautiful, wonderful / Anything you wanna be..."
1. Paramore - Ain't It Fun
Why it's trending: Paramore goes gospel! The latest single from their self-titled 2013 release is probably one of the most powerful from the alt-rock group, especially lyrically, which is all about the pains of growing up and realizing that we're all in this together: no more selfish thinking!
Best lyric line: "Don't go crying to your mama / Cause you're on your own in the real world..."
